holy mother of good pitching again. Fried, Anderson and Weigel (AA debut).. hopefully Ellis can have less than 4 walks today. He has been great outside of way too many deep counts and walks.

Ronald Acuna added to the GCL roster for a rehab stint. Williams Perez was, too.

Would love to see Williams make it back for a few starts during the final month. Of all the arms we've piled up, he gets by far the least love, and he was the one making the adjustments they wanted to see better than anyone else IMO.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Come on Weigel. Here's your shot kid!

I'm thinking Ellis is destined for the pen if he's not traded this winter.

Pulling hard for Fried. I think he could be a fast riser next year.

I don't think he's necessarily wrong. When you watch Riley, it's clear he doesn't have elite bat speed. The good news, though, is that while great bat speed is a good way to generate easy power, it's not always necessary. Riley has great strength, and if he can figure out how to identify fastballs quickly, he can overcome it.

Frank Thomas and the Fielders (father and son) didn't have elite bat speed either. The thing is if a player doesn't have elite bat speed, he has to have solid plate discipline and not swing at too much stuff out of the zone. Riley's walk total worries me a little more than his supposed lack of bat speed (and I'm a guy who doesn't worship the base on balls).

Right, but it all goes hand in hand, as you said. You worry more about his discipline because of his bat speed.

Like I said, you can be a really good power hitter without elite bat speed. It just means you have to figure out how to compensate for it and it gives you less margin for error.

    Regardless, I'm excited about Riley.

Speaking of Danville, Harrington is doing a good job in relief. Why did we not give him a shot at starting?
