Padres Being Investigated by MLB for Withholding Material Medical Information

Wow. The Braves aren't listed by name as being one of the organizations who have filed a complaint against the Padres with MLB, but there is the ever present "unmentioned" team which may well be the Braves given our recent trade history with Preller and Co (including the Craig Kimbrel trade). Thank goodness those players have largely panned out for us (including Fried to this point), but it remains nonetheless disconcerting if the allegations are proven true.

I wouldn't be so concerned about last season as this seems isolated to a new strategy they implemented this year, which would really only call into question Matt Kemp. With that said, Kemp has had a long, extensive injury history, so that's somewhat disconcerting.

I bet the Braves filed the complaint about the Padres not disclosing exactly how fat Kemp had gotten.

    Kidding!

Eh. Sure the article says they may have had instructions from management to segregate medical information into two files for purposes of gaining an upper hand in trades at the beginning of this year but we're talking about an organization with the same incumbent management as was in place when the Kimbrel trade was executed. And, as you probably know, AJ Preller has a history of being less than forthright and in conformance with those pesky things called "rules"... It's not like the new training staff decided to do this - it seems it was dictated from up top - which was one and the same management which was in place when we previously traded with the Padres. Management dictates corporate culture.

The Padres. Rea was the pitcher - replaced with prospect Luis Castillo. Rea didn't last one whole outing with the Marlins and disclosed the fact that he'd been receiving treatments (undisclosed to the Marlins by the Padres, mind you) for weeks before the trade.

... And as I posted those, MLB announces they have suspended Preller for 30 days without pay for his role in the Drew Pomeranz trade.

Joke of a punishment. Should be fine for gm and forfeit a draft pick. 1st round.
