    Potential 2016 Offseason Targets

Just to try and focus them all in one place since they tend to get lost in some of the various threads when they spin off-topic. We could probably use a sort of catch-all thread for random ideas at this point if one of the mods could pin it.

List 'em all - trades or free-agent signings - who you want, who you think the Braves will actually go after, who you daydream about landing, whatever. Completely realistic options or not, doesn't matter. Dreamers' opinions are welcome, so (some of you) please restrain yourselves and keep from calling posters "idiots" like you often do and respect the fact that their opinions mean absolutely as much as yours - it really is OK to disagree with someone without that.

Some that have already been mentioned and discussed on some level - feel free to add any thoughts...

    Rotation:
    Ervin Santana (Trade)
    Jaime Garcia (Trade)
    Chris Sale (Trade)
    Jose Quintana (Trade)
    Chris Archer (Trade)
    Danny Duffy (Trade)
    Jeremy Hellickson (Free-Agent)
    Ivan Nova (Free-Agent)
    Jake Peavy (Free-Agent)
    Bartolo Colon (Free-Agent}

    Bats:
Martin Prado (Free-Agent) Re-signed with Miami
    Ian Desmond (Free-Agent)
    Justin Turner (Free-Agent)
    Yoenis Cespedes (Free-Agent)
Wilson Ramos (Free-Agent) Torn ACL - probably unlikely target now
    Jason Castro (Free-Agent)
    Aaron Hill (Free-Agent)
    Erick Aybar (Free-Agent)
    Luis Valbuena (Free-Agent)
    Brian McCann (Trade)
    Evan Longoria (Trade)
    Mike Moustakas (Trade)

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

I want Nova and Garcia... Or Nova and Archer/Sale... But I don't think I want to give up what it will take to get Archer or Sale

For bats I want Turner/Desmond and McCann/Ramos... Nervous about giving Ramos the money he will demand though. Also wouldn't mind Trumbo if we get rid of Neck... But an OF of Trumbo and Kemp is a little scary defensively. But man he'd be a perfect 5 hole hitter.

    Sonny Gray or Chris Archer.
    Jaime Garcia or Ivan Nova
Kenley Jansen ( I think if we are going to give a draft away we should only do it for a All Star)
    Yoenis Cespedes
Catchers i am not sold with none of them.

Josh Donaldson is a name I heard mentioned on espn radio a few days ago as a possible trade candidate. No team mentioned just that if Bautista and Encarnacion go elsewhere then there team may rebuild bc their farm system isn't very good. If Donaldson became available he'd be my #1 target no doubt.

I'm not interested in rebuilding other teams' farm systems.

If the Braves could get Josh Donaldson this offense would all of a sudden be awesome!

Say if the Braves could get Donaldson, McCann and a frontline pitcher like a Archer or Gray this team would be a playoff contender.

Trading for Donaldson and Archer would rape our farm.

Alex Cobb is at the top of my list. If we could find this year's Hellickson. It gives us options.

Tyson Ross is another one in that boat.

I'd avoid Sonny Gray. He's been terrible this year. Could mean he's injured (which could mean a reduced cost), but I think he may simply be slipping.

Yeah if we were able to trade for Donaldson then we couldn't trade for Archer or anybody like that. But if he became available he'd be the one I'd include Albies in a deal for.

And would ruin the future we're all currently excited about.

I'm not including Albies in a deal for anybody we don't have under control for at least 4 years.

Archer yes because he's signed through 2021 at super cheap prices. He's going to cost a **** ton in a trade. Donaldson has 1 year left at 17 million. He shouldn't cost that much. Jays may be incentivized to rebuild too depending on what Bautista and Encarncion do in FA.

edit: Seems Donaldson is under contract through 2018 too just has no dollar amount yet. So yeah he would cost quite a bit more.

How much can cost us Archer? Maybe we should try to get Archer and Duffy. To cover a pitcher and the third base.
