    Freddie Freeman

I think we should all take a moment to appreciate the season that Freeman is having. His current WRAA (weighted runs above average) which tries to determine how many runs a player is responsible offensively for is 46.9 which is the 3rd highest in baseball and highest in the NL. His WRC+ is 154 which is tied for 5th highest in the majors. He has now reached 6 fWAR which is 9th best in the majors. Truly a remarkable season with hopefully more to come.

He's taken the step forward as a player we've all been waiting for. He's a superstar of the kind you can build a team around.

I've been saying for years that I was expecting this to happen at some point. He is the Chipper Jones of this team.

I still would given the right return. I view it from a straight long term roster construction viewpoint.

The Braves WON'T do it because there is more to it than straight baseball decisions such as offering the fanbase a ray of hope and putting fans in the seats, which I understand and accept as necessary.

Too bad he won't get even a look for MVP.

If he posts a 6+ WAR season and leads a young Braves team to the postseason after a few years of being the floor mat of MLB he will absolutely get MVP consideration.

If we traded him at the deadline we 100% would not have received proper value. His value has gone up and up since then. So unless the return was crazy, which it wouldn't have been, I'm good.

But can you tell he's been the best offensive player in the NL? Probably not.

Nothing like reading a comical post from the the willingly ignorant to bring a smile to my face as I slump at my desk early Monday morning. So for that, I thank you.

Bryce Harper is better. He is just having a down year.

Freeman is having a better year but Harper is still better.

Would you say that if Harper's 2015 seasons was like the rest of his career?

I think that is predicting the future.

Many have tagged Harper as a future HoF. And that might happen (or not). He has the ROY, and MVP, 4 time All-Star, Silver Slugger and is 23. He needs about 8-10 more years approaching 2015 levels to be HoF or 15-18 more years approaching 2016 levels to be HoF. He has a career dWAR of 0.2 (Bref). He's 23.

And it might happen with Freeman as well, but for it to happen for him, he would need about 12 more years like this year. He has a #2 in ROY, a 5 and 23 in MVP, 2 time All Star, career dWAR of (-4.6). He is 26.

There is a lot of years each has to go to be considered best of All time. At one time Dale Murphy was the best player in the game by a significant margin and he isn't in the HoF and won't get there. A lot can happen.

But, I think a big component of value that is often overlooked is player potential. People think Harper's potential is better than Freeman's. That doesn't mean he will have a better career. And players get paid for potential all the time. Take Heyward as a prime example.
