Really should be a no-brainer for how he helped build the Braves up. Even if he made some truly head-scratching moves later in his tenure.

I would love to see Albert Belle gets some support. Not that I think he's a HOF per se, but the inside clubhouse stories that come out the summer you are elected to the HoF would be incredible to read.

Orel Hersheiser: Will probably be voted in because of the "did it the right way and didn't cheat" crowd. But I watched him load the ball every pitch every night he threw for the last 5 years of his career (wore his hair long mullet style and ran his hand through it before virtually every pitch, kinda nasty when you couple that with the resin bag). Get's extra credit for his long scoreless innings streak early in his career.

Albert belle: No chance. Media, fans and most teammates disliked him and he got busted with the corked bat.

Mark McGwire: Probably should get in but won't due to steroid issues. While I am against PED in baseball, McGwire had Andro prominently displayed in his locker years before it suddenly became an issue for Selig and the owners. PED were not an issue in baseball to the commissioner and owners until they figured out that they could use it as a bargaining chip and a lever to use against the players association. The owners aren't stupid. They knew what was going on for years and then suddenly acted shocked when the testing results came out.

Harold baines: Probably won't get in because of the lack of 3,000

Will Clark: not good enough long enough

JS: no brainer even though I am not a worshiper

Bud Selig: get's a lot of credit for the good in baseball and get's a pass on the bad that he did. Bought a small market club and paid small market funds then started immediately crying revenue sharing as an owner. Was a chief hard liner trying to bring the players under ownership control and was a big part of the post season being cancelled. Almost killed baseball, then became commissioner and did nothing to finish it off so good on him. Will get in.

George Steinbrenner: Won't get as much support as he should because he is seen as a driving force behind the explosion of player salaries and compensation. IMO, he was a brilliant business man who bought the team for a veritable song, pumped cash into the product, marketed the hell out of it and grew his brand to the most valuable in the world. I hate the Yankees but can respect George for doing it his way and doing it better than anyone else. He was not intimidated.

Lou Pinella: Won't get in and shouldn't
Davey Johnson: Won't get in and shouldn't

    JS will get in.

He's classic old boys club and I'm certain whomever is on the committee is also a friend of Bobby's and JS and BC seem to go hand in hand...

Piniella might get some love from the old schoolers. Don't see why Davey Johnson gets in.

Baines and Hershisher are interesting picks.

On a side note, I would love to see someone like Andres Galarraga get in one day. Doesn't have counting stats and might be hurt by Coos effect but just a good all around baseball guy. Don't think anyone every accused him of PEDs

JS certainly should get in. He was the GM through the whole division streak which is one of the most unbreakable records in sports. 4 championships for JS don't hurt either.

Arguably all five exec/mgr candidates could/should get in. Of the players, Hershiser, I think.

Reminder: JS also has another WS on his resume from tenure with KC. Not everything always begins and ends with Atlanta. Titles in both leagues gets the right kind of attention. See Pat Gillick.

Whether or not most of you like it, he's respected around baseball.

I think the bar for non players is and should be pretty high, but Jon Suspenders should be a lock.

JS and Selig are both masters of small group politics. This has served them well in their careers and will help them get the votes for induction.

It's been pretty unanimous that he should and will get in. Not sure why you think no one thinks he's respected.

We've been pretty harsh on him here regarding his last few desperation moves under his watch - justifiably so. His last several moves before Wren took over were just atrocious.

But, Warren Spahn went 6-13 when he was 43. Still had 363 wins.

Winning titles with two clubs, unprecedented division streak.

I'd think that is as good as anything this side of Branch Rickey as far as executives go.

Titles with two clubs is a splashy recommendation. Maintaining the kind of continuity and stability that they did during the streak is a real accomplishment in the modern era. JS will be rewarded for it, and justifiably so. I'm probably one of his more vocal critics, but I don't think there should be any controversy about his induction.

Right. Regardless of what anyone says about him recently, I don't think anyone denies he is worthy of HOF induction.

JS is one of the best GMs in baseball history. He will and should get in.
