Yea, there are some good October titles – particularly the five-film Cassavetes set – and I'm glad they're finally releasing La Notte, which has been rumored as forthcoming for more than a year. But a few films at the top of my wish-list are being released in August and September: The Big City and Charulata (I'm a huge Satyajit Ray fan) next month, and the Roberto Rossellini/Ingrid Bergman three-film set and the blu-ray re-release of Autumn Sonata (Ingmar directing Ingrid) the month after. I can never get enough Ingrid Bergman.

As did I, as I currently am....and yes, the idea that it could/did happen, IS scary but my point was that the movie itself wasn't over the top scary.

Speaking of Ingmar, I'll hopefully be watching Wild Strawberries tonight.

Especially in black-and-white, perhaps? Though she is pretty magnificent in Elena and Her Men (a great mid-fifties Renoir film), as well.

Nice. That's another I really covet, along with The Magician. I'm thinking of picking up this early Bergman Eclipse box-set as part of my B&N sale order — and possibly Smiles of a Summer Night, as well, since I've almost completed the "summer" trilogy (as it were).

I just had the Magician arrive in the mail today!

Only Bergman I've seen so far was Seventh Seal, and I really really enjoyed it.

You're right. I misspoke. I find that black and white actually helps people's complexions.

Usually when I think about how good I look, I picture myself in black and white.

I assume Depp was good-to-great, but did you find Hammer's performance to be anywhere near as bad as most of the reviews purported?
