One thing I know for sure is that you spend a lot of time thinking and typing about a 75-win baseball team that doesn't pay you.
The other thing that occurs to me is that if you're spending that much time on this ****, there's no way you're spending as much time as you need to on the MMA, pornstar, software development, father-to-be stuff that you allegedly do.
So quit trying to win internet arguments and go do some of that other ****. Especially the pornstar thing, I'm sure that's fulfilling.
Better signing - Cubs signing Jason Heyward from Stl
Or
STL signing Fowler away from Chicago Cubs
Discuss.

At the time of the deals, he was rated basically where Wisler was. Wisler is struggling and Margot's stock has gone up some. That's the only difference.
And it's all still up in the air. Margot could end up being meh, while Wisler, Riley, or Touki could take a big step forward and become very good; they all have real chances to become impact players as well. Margot has the highest stock right now, but I'd still probably take the 3 and figure I've got better odds.

It's funny to me that you and Enscheff stick strictly to numbers until you come upon an argument where the numbers don't support what you want, so you start just throwing out feelings and such.
His contract at the time was not an absolute premium, but it certainly wasn't cheap. Again, he had about $26 million in surplus value attached at the time of the Braves trade, over 4 years. His value has dropped since.
Is it trying to paint the team in a bad light if it's suggested the Braves sold themselves short by attacking Melvin to Kimbrel? Also Quientin and Maybin have to be factored into the trade as well to get a complete analysis.
I don't think it was a bad trade but the Braves likely could have gotten more if it was just Kimbrel.
Elite closers will generally out pace their surplus value in a trade just like they do in most FA signings. They just usually cost more than what their WAR suggests. With that being said a year ago Margot and Guerrera were 52 and 56 on the BA Top 100. That combined surplus value came in around 50 million. Craigs surplus value was only like 10 million at the time of the trade. Padres got more back imo.
