Is that the same as OJ perusing Nicole and Ron's killer ?
The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is to make sure he doesn’t get a gun.
WASHINGTON — President Trump said on Wednesday that this week’s devastating chemical weapons attack in Syria had changed his view of the brutal civil war in that country, though he declined to say how the United States would respond.
Mr. Trump said the images of death inside Syria in the aftermath of the chemical attacks “crosses many lines, beyond a red line, many many lines.” And he said that the death of “innocent children, innocent babies, little babies” has made him reassess the situation and Syria’s president, Bashar al-Assad.
“It’s very, very possible, and I will tell you it has already happened, that my attitude toward Syria and Assad, has changed very much,” Mr. Trump said as he stood next to King Abdullah of Jordan in the Rose Garden for a news conference with reporters.

I don't want to depend too much on conventional wisdom, but there has been a perception that Trump is disproportionately influenced by the moment, by tv "reality," by the last expert that he spoke to. My reading of this is that he seems a little blindsided by Assad's actions here, probably because he has been assured by the Bannon axis that if we play ball with the Russians, they'll reciprocate.
This assurance may have just been undercut.

One more point that I think is germane here.
In the early days of the Obama administration, a lot of folks, myself included, were disappointed that the O admin made it clear there would be no investigation of Bush-era policy on torture, detention, and rendition. Speaking for myself, it wasn't that I wanted to see people strung up, but more that I wanted some kind of "truth and reconciliation" situation... but plenty of people did want to see folks in the dock for it, and with some good reason.
O admin made it clear that they believed that it was inappropriate to investigate one's predecessor in that way.
Seems pretty honorable and quaint in retrospect, in light of what you're suggesting.
