    But then it sounds like everyone is getting something. And since Rs sponsored it, and it's easier for Ds to get elected in the next two cycles if the economy doesn't keep going gangbusters, he couldn't say that. The whole DC cesspit just disgusts me.

    The thing is, I actually agree with his underlying point that more of the benefit should have been tilted to people at lower incomes. I just wish he could say it in an honest, non-jerky kinda way.

    Making those Native American heroes stand under the looming portrait of Andrew Jackson hasn't been getting enough attention, because it was as offensive as Trump's "Pocahontas" jab.

    This is such a weak argument so that we can call the President a racist because it plays better than saying he is against Islam as a tool of hatred.

    This tax bill cuts almost ALL deductions for self-employed people! "child and dependent care;

    I wish we could have a conversation where center-left liberals and people on the real left would consider certain good-sense spending cuts, while at the same time center-right conservatives and pro-business libertarians would consider pursuing an economic agenda that wasn't simply "cut all taxes for everyone always, period".

    It's always been my opinion that jobs are the single most important characteristic of a strong economy. I will always be for pulling any levers that generate jobs.

    That includes tax cuts on businesses to generate more free cash flow to POTENTIALLY create more jobs. And it also includes tax cuts for families to encourage spending on goods which generate more work for business.

    I'm fine with people that disagree and I'm more than willing to read up on alternative tax policies to stimulate economic growth.

    That's great that you think that. But if we look past the rhetoric and look at actons, I think we can all agree that we spend a lot more money than we cut taxes, no?

    In fact, the amount of spending makes it tough to cut taxes, giving the left a further lever to bark when the right tries to make some progress.

    Y'all have your cake and eat it to.

    You get your regulation. You get your high taxes. You get your high spending. And then you blame capitalism for lack of wage growth and wealth inequality.

    must be nice

    Big corporations have tons of cash right now. The corporate tax cut will mean that they will potentially have lots more. How do you think they'll use it? Spoiler alert: there are a lot of explicit indications already.

    You're just giving up on even having conversations, aren't you?

    Meanwhile: the spending-priorities of the center-left neoliberals who have actually been in position to advance policy the last forty years are very different from the spending-priorities of those leftists who "blame capitalism for lack of wage growth and wealth inequality". This confusion (purposeful or not) gives you the illusion that anyone who "blames capitalism" is having any cake.

    If it ends up being in the form of just dividends then I'll agree it was a big waste. While I would be a beneficiary of that business decision it would not be in the best interests of the country long term.

    I believe they will reward share holders, invest in new technologies, and higher better talent (indirectly raising wages)

    like 70% of Americans own stocks. Why are dividends a bad thing?
