well the country was founded on genocide and slavery and has been against any minority since it's inception and might get some minorities pretty pumped that a good man that wasn't a white man was running for president
but i'm sure in your circles that equals racism
and everyone can be racist. please stop saying stupid **** like that
"For there is always light, if only we are brave enough to see it. If only we are brave enough to be it." Amanda Gorman
"When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross"
The increased African American turnout was because Obama was African American. More power to them. I get their sentiment and happy they had an opportunity to feel truly empowered in the process.
But this one way street that Trump benefited from racism (underlying preference for ones own race) while Obama didn't is a bit disingenuous.

The part of me that wants to have a constructive discussion suggests that read up on the studies I posted and see how the racial attitudes at issue are expressed, and cross-check that with what you're talking about.
The part of me that just wants to mess with you just asks you why you suddenly dont hate identity politics.
I'm trying to counter your point of saying Trump benefited from racism by making an equally absurd argument that Obama benefited from racism. I think its embarrassing to make either claim because all it does is perpetuate a mindset that is dwindling in our public consciousness despite how much the leftist media portrays it.

Yes - Absurd.
Can you isolate which white people are racist? Were the norther whites in Minn/Wis/Mich racist or just the southern states where Trump won comfortably?
Also - if you're assumption is he benefitted from racism (essentially stating his platform was aligned with racists ideas) then what kind of impact did that have to the turnout of his opposition? Was this a wash?

I know that the study info I've seen is controlled for all kinds of other factors, like geography. That's one reason it's compelling.
I can't speculate as to those questions. I will refer you to look at the volume of information that suggests how predictive certain expressions of racial resentment are of votes for Trump. Trump clearly played to that crowd. You tell me what YOU think it means.
My belief is no because I don't just throw around the term racist willy nilly like the left does nowadays.
I'm just trying to illustrate Newtons third law here which will demonstrate that under the assumption he did then there would be an opposite reaction counteracting that viewpoint at the voter booth.
