This may be the first thing Trump has done that I agree with, but I have no idea if it's smart or not.

Yes. I think we need to deal firmly but always in a constructive spirit with N Korea. I hope talks will continue and that once they've sufficiently advanced there will be a summit. It would be great to have a deal that limited their nuclear program and that promoted a more stable situation on the Korean peninsula. Let's keep working toward that by all means.
I think that Kim has suffered a public embarrassment and this is dangerous. So hopefully, he doesn't do anything stupid.
As for Trump, I think he made a mistake by prematurely agreeing to a summit. But I think he gains in credibility by firmly refusing to let the N Koreans play their games with him.

John Bolton and the "Libya model" are the ostensible fly in the ointment here, and understandably so. That was a truly **** bit of messaging.
DPRK has seemingly been careful to throw stones at Bolton and Pence but not at Trump, which may indicate that they're leaving the door open.
Whatever the reason, I think now there is an opportunity to put substance before stagecraft. Just hope talks continue in a more low-key way. The PR extravaganza approach was a joke from the start.

He only agreed so quickly because he saw the opportunity to claim a victory. His ability to manipulate any reality to serve his own ends is really impressive.
