Consumer confidence hits 18 year high... I do apologise for averting my gaze from the soap opera.

Pence would probably be identical policy wise, without the circus that surrounds Trump. We would still hear about how he wants gays to die and is LITERALLY HITLER from the more hysterical part of the left, but overall the situation would instantly be more tenable for anyone with an R beside their name. Maybe they're afraid they would lose a large percentage of Trump voters?
I'm pretty confident that the left will hate Pence worse than Trump... And frankly anyone the right throws out there.

Pence is too Christian for the left. That's not going to stand.

After all, he's definitely going to kill the gays and not allow women to work.

I know. But he did vote for the tax bill. I was talking about the Dems who voted for the spending bills and then talk about the deficit. My point is that anyone who voted for either the tax bill or the spending bills and then complains about the deficit is swimming in the shallow end.

I imagine 18 years ago you must have been singing Bill Clinton's praises. Budget surplus, soaring stock market and wonderful consumer confidence. What a combination!

Deficits are created by spending more money than you have.

A constitutional conservative can absolutely support tax cuts and complain about deficits. They simply have to cut spending at some point or the day of reckoning will be sooner than we'd like

Now that you have the perspective of age, I'm sure your regard for Clinton economic policy is a suitably high one.

As a purely mathematical proposition it reflects tax revenues falling short of expenditures. There are two sides to the coin.

He did some things fine and other things horribly.

But I'm happy to put the onus of the housing crisis under his watch

The episode has managed to combine most of the worst aspects of Donald Trump’s presidency: pettiness as a major motivating force for administration policy, a preference for sowing division over unity, disdain for tradition and norms, chaotic decision making, and an ultimate tendency to surrender.

Oh, folks who voted for the tax bill can complain about the deficit. It's just hypocritical to do so. The budget entails both money coming in and money going out. If there is less money coming in and more money going out, it's doubly dangerous situation. But both elements of the equation play into the booming deficit.

Just like "Republican" and "racist." It's really quite simple.

He’s partially in the hook for that, but you’re gonna need to run that one down for me.
