Nancy's dear colleague's letter:

wonder if the GOP will join in insisting that the whistleblower's report be transmitted to Congress

I would say it is patriotic of Nancy to calculate very carefully how her actions affect the Chosen One's political future. If she gives in to the mob baying for impeachment and they fail to bring along the public and at least some of their GOP colleagues, it will have been a yuge mistake and the country will pay the price for it. I for one am glad she is proceeding with caution and in a calculated manner.

Could we make the same argument that it's the GOPs political duty to stop an admitted socialist from winning the Presidency?
You either believe in principles or you don't. If politics enters the equation then you lose the moral high ground of cou try over party.
I support Nancy impeaching if the offense calls for it
the thing that needs to happen is for the Chosen One to transmit the whistleblower's report to Congress
if that doesn't happen, I think the sequencing is straightforward:
1) allow Maguire to testify on Thursday
2) bring a resolution to the House floor demanding the whistleblower's report with a clear deadline (will be a gauge of GOP sentiment)
3) sue for the report if it is not produced by the deadline (a resolution on impeachment by the Judiciary Committee could accompany this if they think it will help their legal case)
"I am a victim, I will tell you. I am a victim."
"I am your retribution."
My fear in all of this is if impeachment proceeds, we may never again have a President who doesn't face serious rumblings of impeachment during their tenure in office. If there is no smoking gun, it's a dicey proposition.
nsacpi points out a key in all of this and that is the public's perception. Americans have always been somewhat skeptical (almost cynical) toward government, but the political environment during the Nixon years was far different than it is now. As turbulent as things appear now, things were really up in the air in the late-1960s/early-1970s. Nixon had clearly lost the public and even his most ardent supporters, both in the political establishment and the public-at-large, realized he had to go. I'm not seeing that with Trump.
Today we see an escalation of the Chosen One's attacks on the whistleblower in the form of a tweet wondering if this person is "on our country's side."
The damage the Chosen One is doing to our civic fabric and institutions is incalculable.
"I am a victim, I will tell you. I am a victim."
"I am your retribution."
Interesting. And to be welcomed so long as it is not seen as a substitute for forwarding the whistleblower's report. Congress and the country need to hear from the whistleblower.

Seems like Giuliani should be subpoenaed, too, right?
For weeks, lawmakers of both parties struggled to get answers over why the Trump administration delayed money Congress had appropriated to help Ukraine defend itself from the threat of Russian aggression.
The story of how Congress was left largely in the dark—and how it intervened to get the military aid back on track—has become another focal point amid news of a pressure campaign aimed at the Ukrainian government by President Trump and his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani. On Monday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) called on Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) to launch a broad investigation touching on who directed the suspension of aid, saying it should be part of a broader probe.

I’m sure McConnell will jump right on that.

This information is a few days old but helps to explain what was happening.

again, as I have said before, Trump is acting incredibly guilty. Its not everyones fault for assuming he is guilty when he acts like this.
