Surprising no one has commented on VPN Elect's email scandal.
You know transparency and all.
Speaking of transparency wonder if we'll ever learn the president elects finances and how deep they go to Russian Mobile.
I would think the appearance of possible wrong doing would drive some fellow Braves fans
For the last decade, I've thought that social conservatives will win on abortion and lose on same-sex marriage (if indeed "win" and "lose" are the right terms). What I see happening in response to this is one giant RFRA that will let business owners opt out on a number of issues that make them uncomfortable and frankly, that scares the crap out of me because I don't know where that train ends up stopping. Could end up rewriting the 14th amendment.

This is... not promising.

WSJ reporting that Bolton and Giuliani are finalists for State.
I can't say I would be happy with either.
Bolton is a Bush retread (among other issues) - and as much as I like Giuliani and feel as though he deserves a prominent role in the administration, I feel as though he's overwhelmingly soft on qualifications for the role.

Former Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.) says most protesters targeting President-elect Donald Trump are uninformed "punks" who are unaware of the disruption they are causing.
“I don’t think they even know Donald Trump,” he told host Neil Cavuto on Fox Business Network’s “Cavuto Coast to Coast” Monday. "I think they’re crazy.
“I bet half of them couldn’t even name his opponent. They don’t know anything about the election.
“I can’t understand what’s happening to the young people in America and what the future holds for the rest of this country if these young punks take over and continue their protests.”

I know my opinion on the topic is well understood at this point, but this is bull****. Saying that protestors don't know anything about the election or the issues is an overgeneralization and a bit demeaning. I've spoken out against the violent aspects of any of the backlash against the election, but dismissing the protestors as idiots incapable of understanding the issues is a conversation ender and every bit as wrong-headed as claiming all Trump supporters are racists.
Putting aside the wall for a second, is there that much difference between Trump and Obama on illegal immigration? Maybe Trump's language is harsher and the issue is more central to his platform, but hasn't there been 2-3M illegal immigrants deported during Obama's stay in office?

Linda McMahon for secretary of commerce.
Obama's policies were not viewed kindly by many on the pro-immigration front.
Hawk, I agree both of those Secretary of State choices are wanting. But when you link The Hill, you might want to mention that site leans pretty solidly to the right.
AA, yes. I believe she is Vince McMahon's wife and an unsuccessful US candidate a few years back. Can't remember who defeated her.
Bob Dole says, "Get off my lawn!"

That was certainly true when The Hill made its bread as a print publication, but they've been pretty middle of the road since going reinvigorating their digital ops. They're basically just an aggregator now.

It's just that every time I see The Federalist linked, I make some rash assumptions.
No, it's like if Obama named the CEO of the Guardian as his chief advisor. Bannon's politics aren't racially motivated. He's a nationalist. He doesn't care about race. He's not actually Alt. Right. Again, I think this whole constantly wanting to label everyone a racist is what makes middle America ticked off.
If you want to grump about Bannon then grump about what he actually is. A man with poor character who promotes nationalism.
thank you weso1!

Yeah. I'm pretty pissed at the NYTimes right now. Have been a loyal subscriber for years, but was shocked at how overboard they went this cycle. Literally haven't pulled an issue of the plastic sleeve since the day after they 'broke' the Trump airplane grabber story - straight to the recycle bin. My account is about 2 months in arrears and am now debating just closing it and not paying as a sign of protest.
I get the WSJ daily and Boston Globe on Sundays (which, somehow, someway, has been more readable than the Times recently) so might just rely on those two from now on and spend the extra reading time on the mountain of books I'd love to catch up on.
Here's a good summation of who Steve Bannon is and his politics from someone who worked with him for years.. Start at about 7:45.

thank you weso1!
I have been reading Brietbart since the O'Keefe / ACORN days.
Yes, Bannon is "deplorable"
