My contention here is that a supermajority to pass A is not a supermajority to pass B. If B had the support, procedurally, of every Democrat in the Senate and the D President, but a nominal "Democrat" senator who endorsed the Republican opponent of the President and lost the D primary, refused to vote for its procedure, then that Senator is not a reliable Democratic vote. That's really it.

While we're on the subject of evasion: even a 58 vote majority, with an indisputable mandate to lead, is fertile ground to grow ripe Commie legislation.

Your contention rests on whether Lieberman was a Democrat or not.

I'm extremely comfortable with my position on that matter.

I think he is saying they have the option of not owning a car or not driving one. Ingenious line of reasoning.

Well aren't you in legal jeopardy if you don't? I'm a little confused.

You are required by law to have liability insurance - meaning if I crash into your car, I have to insurance to cover YOU for injuries or damages.

I do not have to cover MY OWN vehicle.

My fiance just totaled her car and didn't have it insured bc it was a piece of junk that wasn't worth insuring. She was insure for damages to other cars, though.

So julio's snarky car comparison is still wrong

That MAGA hat you wear ----

President Donald Trump's 2020 reelection campaign has spent about $835,000 in legal fees so far this year, or about 22% of its total spending, according to the latest fundraising reports filed quarterly with the Federal Election Commission. […]

The campaign’s legal consulting spending went to at least eight different firms and the Trump Corporation. The bulk of the spending, about $350,000, went to Jones Day, which has represented the campaign since the 2016 election, including any litigation related to it.

Two others firms—Harding LLP and Larocca, Hornik, Rosen, Greenberg & Blaha, which are involved in the legal fight with Daniels—were paid a combined $280,000. The campaign did not respond to questions from BuzzFeed News about the payments, but an official told the New York Times that they were not related to Daniels.

The money went to Trump’s airplanes, hotels, golf courses, even a bottled water company during the presidential campaign and the first 15 months of his presidency, according to a compilation of known records of the spending by Public Citizen obtained by McClatchy.

But it was Trump’s campaign itself that spent the biggest chunk by far – about 90 percent, or $13.4 million.

It also includes more than $717,000 from the Republican National Committee; nearly $595,000 from Trump Victory, the joint fundraising committee set up by the RNC and Trump’s campaign; and $9,000 from the National Republican Senate Committee.

Well, points to you for being quite literal. A liability insurance mandate is the government telling you that you have to X in exchange for Y, with penalties ranging from fines to jail time. A health insurance mandate is the government telling you to do X or pay a fine. Both are grounded in how liabilities are addressed among individuals, private entities, and the public sector. Neither has anything to do with control over your body, which is the point which apparently escapes you.

Considering recent developments it bears asking: was that coordinated?
