Will be interesting to see what happens after this Rosenstein piece in the Times. It seems to me he has played his part in our national psychodrama and will now exit stage left.

And Noel Francisco awaits in the shadows to step forward.

The Great American Psycodrama in 6 Acts

Act 1: America Elects a Lunatic

Act 2: The Lunatic Acts Like a Lunatic Upon Taking Office

Act 3: The People Around the Lunatic Try to Figure Out What to Do

Act 4: Many Months Pass and the Lunatic Learns About Some of the Intrigue Surrounding Him

Act 5: Off With Their Heads Tweets the Lunatic

Act 6: Yet to Be Written (several different endings are plausible)
    "I am a victim, I will tell you. I am a victim."

    "I am your retribution."

The only thing I can say is likely at this point is Rosenstein resigns/gets canned. Beyond that it could go in several different directions:

    1) Francisco steps in and supervises Mueller's investigation to its conclusion

    2) After Rosenstein goes, an attempt is made to bring the Mueller investigation to an end (someone presumably does play the Bork role in this scenario)

My understanding is that Francisco is next in the chain of command. However, I believe the President can name any DoJ official who has been confirmed by Congress as the acting Deputy AG. So there is a possibility that Francisco gets bypassed, in which case he will remain a minor character in our drama. However, I think more likely the chain of command is adhered to and Francisco gets his moment under the bright lights.

If the speculation is correct and Sessions is gone after midterms, whoever sits in the deputy chairs may be less important.

That said, if there are resignations/firings, they’re likely to be closely scrutinized starting in January 2019.

JMO, but I think the Mueller probe has now reached a critical mass such that administrative action is not going to be enough to stop it easily. I wouldn’t be entirely surprised to see an effort to do it in the lame duck session after midterms, but that’s pretty much the last shot.

No worthwhile guess and no worthwhile guess. I assume with Manafort’s cooperation, the timeline might have gotten a tad longer and the chance of more indictments more significant. In that I don’t know, I’d as soon not guess. Not that guessing and being utterly wrong stops, well, other folks.

They’re now under court order to reunite these families, despite the fact that some parents have already been deported with their kids still in detention.
    Zero tolerance for what, exactly?

Name one other detention system on planet earth which has special inbuilt provisions for the detainment of families.

There's no demonstrable upside? Heh, ok.

I’d like to hear more about these “implementation flaws.” A couple thousand kids separated from their parents and put in baby-jail was a feature, not a bug—according to you, even: “it’s a tactic, folks.”
Implementation flaws specifically relating to standard of care for infants.

So was it a flaw or a tactic? Read the accounts of these kids and their parents and own it, really.
A tactic that's open to reasonable, fact-based criticism.

“Decades of psychological research show that children separated from their parents can suffer severe psychological distress, resulting in anxiety, loss of appetite, sleep disturbances, withdrawal, aggressive behavior and decline in educational achievement. The longer the parent and child are separated, the greater the child's symptoms of anxiety and depression become.“—American Psychological Association
Stands to reason that we should deport more expeditiously it would seem.

The Iraq War was good, actually, and there totally were so WMD.
    Inaccurate.

Trump’s gonna be fine. How bad could it be?
I'm happy - but then again I'm not locked into a semi-perm fetus state, shuddering at every mention of a Russian conspiracy and/or 'predatory' behavior.

Democracy is unsatisfying. Maybe try fascism?
    Capitalism is unsatisfying.

The alt-right is the future of the Republican Party.
Even when you misconstrue my words, I end up being right (according to you, that is).

Trump would rightfully receive a Nobel Peace Prize if he nuked Pyongyang.
Stick to not talking about Korea.

Most of those folks just like their Confederate monuments.
As opposed to being ... you know, RACISTS.

    What hacking?
    I'm still waiting.

    The Russia investigation died today.
    The year 2017.

Like, I appreciate your contrarianism, but I wonder sometimes if being a smart person who’s willing to advocate for criminally dumb stuff must not be a burden. I’ll take a bleeding heart over dead-eyed moral vacuity every day.
Fair enough. That I don't expect to change.

He got laughed at yesterday. T'was a beautiful thing. But, by extension so did we all. Let's see the fake outrage from the right now. I mean their guy was flat embarrassed yesterday.

This right here is why I consider the war on drugs to be the holocaust in slow motion. You want to say we are a nation of laws and people voted for certain drugs to be illegal, fine. What is not acceptable imo is that we bully other nations into adopting our drug policy. 30,000+ people will be murdered in Mexico because of our drug war we fprces on them in 2006. Over 100k already dead. Then we tell people trying to leave the hell hole we created that they are criminals.

We are quickly approaching the point where deaths from the war on drugs will surpass the holocaust. I hope yall are proud.

Yes, he was laughed at and by association so was the country. But they weren't laughing at the rest of his speech, which was quite frankly, chilling in its defiant opposition to everything America is supposed to stand for.

Trump isn't a Hitler? Yeah, right.

The vice unit that arrested Stormy Daniels is being investigated by the FBI. This might be another criminal police unit. Also looking into a killing of a prostitute by this unit.

    from WSJ:

Donald Trump “personally directed” a legal effort to prevent Stormy Daniels from publicly disclosing lewd details of their alleged affair, The Wall Street Journal reports. The

newspaper says the president told his then-lawyer Michael Cohen to seek a restraining order against the adult-film star in February through a confidential arbitration proceeding.

Trump and Cohen had reportedly become aware that Daniels was considering giving a media interview about her alleged relationship with the then-real-estate mogul, despite

having signed a 2016 nondisclosure agreement. Trump told Cohen to coordinate the legal response with Eric Trump, who then entrusted a Trump Organization staff attorney with

signing off on the arbitration paperwork. It hasn’t been previously reported that Trump had direct involvement in the effort to silence Daniels.
