Sorry, no. It's about a meeting where participants (among them Flynn, Wolsey, and the Turkish Foreign Minister), apparently spitballed about illegally rendering Gulen to Turkey.

There's no discussion of any quid pro quo. Honestly, it doesn't look like this was being done to benefit the US, as such. It looks like it was being done to the benefit of Michael Flynn, and for whomever he was working.

Of. course that was before congressmen of his own party laughed in his face.

    I'd go golfing too

Just came across a Breitbart article that said this failure is all part of Art of the Deal and just setting up the real deal down the road to replace Obamacare. Saying Trump is playing this out his way every step.

    Obamacare: 187 legislative days.
    Medicare Part D: 166
    Welfare reform: 56
    1986 tax reform: 323
    'Trumpcare': 17

Something just doesn't add up. Combine the general oddness which has enshrouded this legislation with Trump's "Watch Judge Jeanine tonight" tweet yesterday - the opening monologue of which was an explicit call for Ryan to resign - and an alternate reading might be appropriate.

My crackpot theory here is that Trump uses this health care bill failure as an excuse to edge Ryan out as well as to minimize the Freedom Caucus (at least in relation to health care) going forward.

Does he go to Schumer and make a deal with the Democrats? Dems have the high ground when it comes to healthcare reform.

Dems aren't going to settle for anything in theory worse than ACA. For them it's only Public Option or Single Payer from there.

Trump isn't going to sign off on either of those.

see this is the weird ****

he could actually get the people who voted for his conman ass help

and bring the people that hate him into the fray

but he needs to be the person he keeps saying he is and say "**** the party"

Why do I get the sneaking suspicion that by the end of his term we'll have single payer?

I doubt it. But if Trump really got desperate I think he'd do it just to give an FU to the GOP. That is assuming the Dems won mid terms but I don't see them winning the Senate let alone House. They're defending too many Blue States in Senate. Also tough red state races like Indiana and North Dakota.

But hey if he somehow pulled that off I'd probably vote for him and then all blue House and Senate races in 2020.

Guys... we will be going to single payer. You know how I know this? Because government NEVER becomes less involved. It will only get more involved. So the left will get their wish eventually

I can squint and kinda see it (with a nod to the plausibility, if not likelihood, of Hawk's theory) but it seems like a really tough climb.

It's fun to try to game out a scenario where it would work, but a lot depends on the mutual goodwill of some bitterly opposed factions, and on the assumption that Trump's people are competent and diligent and not half-cocked dilettantes.

I also think one of the major concessions the Dems would want in return for helping Trump achieve Single-Payer, is for him to give a full apology and make amends to Obama and get him "involved" to where he got some credit for it. No way they let Trump take all the credit for it like he'd want.

Because the GOP obstructing public option/single payer for as long as they did and then suddenly make a power play to try and be the heroes, would not sit very well with the liberal establishment even if it is what they want in the end.

Good. Get single-payer and we can discuss cuts to other entitlement programs.
