I have always been ambivalent toward Assange and thought Snowdon a coward compared to Chelsea Manning who not only had a conviction but the courage of that conviction. Instead of running he/she stood up.

I am surprised that after the revelations of 2005 detailing widespread surveillance by the Intellegence community any one would be alarmed by Wiki leaks, 2012 or 2016 or this past week. I took for granted where all of that was going and never once thought "oh well that will shut that up" --
As to the Wiki revelations this past election cycle there was nothing startling . A campaign for POTUS is not how they say "beanbag".

Is this a reasonable series of statements?

As Information Age technologies advance, people increasingly have access to iteratively more sophisticated networked tools for better communication, productivity, and entertainment.

With the broadening of access to such tools, new opportunities exist for:

1) criminals to exploit those tools for nefarious purposes.
2) corporations to exploit these tools to gather information on consumers (see Vizio smart tvs collecting customer data w/out permission, Facebook and Google privacy flaps, among many others).
3) state actors to exploit these tools to gather information for either white- or black-hat purposes, depending on your interpretation.

I presume, based on what you've written, that you think all 3 are malign. I share your concern about the possibility of abuse on all 3 fronts. I also accept that the pace of such innovation will continue and that there will always be tension between personal privacy and compromise of same on all 3 fronts.

As for item 3, you're making a leap from "abuse of these tools is theoretically possible" to "abuse of these tools is SOP." I agree with you that the intelligence community's record has been troubling at times, but you're still making a big assumption that the legal safeguards in place are being ignored. I don't begrudge your skepticism--in fact, I share it--but you're still making some pretty bold declarations without supporting facts.
