Why would either get a start? There's enough off days between games where you can use your starting catcher every day.

I think Gattis AND Laird should get one start per week at catcher the rest of the way in. We need to rest McCann. I was a little surprised to see McCann play five straight days recently. To me that's about the only questionable thing Fredi has done recently in terms of lineup management.
Yeah, he looks like a stumbling elephant at times, but he knows how to play and has actually gotten a couple of big hits this season. Gattis is a work-in-progress and he'll get his ABs in September. I don't see how the goals of keeping them both sharp seems to be mutually exclusive to some.

I love Schafer but I'm glad BJ is back in there.

I'll take my chances with Laird's .370 OBP over Gattis' .305, yes.

We face Lee, Kendrick and Hamels in that order in the next series.

Here's one way Fredi can set things up.

Against Lee go with Gattis in left.

Against Kendrick, I would rest Justin and play Schafer in right. And go with Terdoslavich in left. Rest Uggla and play EJ.

Against Hamels, I would rest McCann and go with Gattis at catcher.

It isn't rocket science keeping everyone sharp. Just need to plan ahead a little based on whether the other team is scheduled to start a righty or lefty.

We need to wrap Schafer in bubble wrap for the rest of the month.

This makes all too much sense, therefore it's also why Fredi isn't going to do it and we'll still somehow win the series anyways.
    Forever Fredi

Three things: BJ should have been there to begin with unless he himself wanted the day off. Finally got him going. Also, unless it's a lock that we're re-signing McCann, days like today are perfect for letting Gattis get some experience back there. You want Laird in the lineup so badly, put him at first. Thirdly, Kameron Loloe. Watch him toss up six shutout innings.

Hahaha. What does it say about Dan Uggla that he's hitting seventh in this lineup. Trolololol. Maybe the theory is for Elliot to get on base and Uggla to homer with his laser eyes.

Schafer just fouled a pitch off himself a day after getting a rest for a sore lower back. I'm guessing that's why he isn't in there today.

I have a feeling Wren called Gattis up and gave Fredi explicit instructions to not allow him to rot on the bench any more. I imagine we will be seeing a lot more of Gattis this month.

We basically just forfeited this game by starting Loe.

Will Loe get out of the 1. inning?
    I don't think so!
Why he is on this team?

We all knew that was coming, I mean come on Loe is awful. He was released by two bad teams including the Cubs. He had not started a game before today in the Majors since 2007.

Hold on, this one is going to get ugly and likely pretty fast.

Looks like batting practice out there. I think we're going to be killed today.

Now the Mets are just one single away from the "team cycle in one inning" achievement.

Exactly, at least barring an amazing offensive game by our boys.
