I hope he does well, but I doubt he cracks the top 10 on the world rankings again.

    Probably not.

But he's probably the best to ever play the game. He was the Walter Johnson of Golf. Because of him they had to change course designs.

Even if he doesn't have a career 20 years after his debut, he is still a stud.

I don't think he was the best, as I think that's saved for the Golden Bear. But certainly an amazing player.

No, he's the best. Nicklaus has the title record. But Woods dominated the game in a way Nichlaus never did.

Flamed out today but probably will finish with the most birdies which is a great sign moving forward.

I didn't get into golf until Tiger was past his dominance. I hope to get to witness it again.

There are so many great young golfers that I really don't care what Tiger does. And I was in my prime golf watching years when he was dominating. Him being good would be great for the sport, but it is so much better now that there are a bunch of competitive tournaments. The level of play has really increased.

Tiger Woods is the Michael Jordan of golf. Neither was probably the best ever to play their sport, but they both have done more for their sport then anyone has ever done or probably will ever do. So many young golfers playing the game now are likely only doing so because they grew up idolizing Tiger.

What?!? Nicklaus was head-and-shoulders above everyone else in the game when he was in his prime. I'll give Tiger somewhat of a nod of respect, as the level of competition in his era was better, but Nicklaus was far and away the best golfer of his era (as much as the fans loved Palmer and Player more) and the best that ever played.

Nichlaus was great. Second greatest ever. But he never dominated the game like Woods. Nichlaus was much better later in his career which makes his career better. If you'd like a comparison to baseball, it's like Pedro vs. Mussina.

No, it's more like debating Greg Maddux and Pedro. Jack simply didn't play in as many tournaments earlier in his career, choosing to focus more on the majors. But when he did play he was just as dominant as Tiger. Forget the 18 majors record and realize he finished 2nd another 19 times (compared to 6 2nd place finishes for Tiger). From 70-78 Nicklaus finished in the top 10 of every single major but 2. And Nicklaus came from behind on the last day to win I believe 6 of his majors. Tiger has not come from behind on the last day even once in a major tournament. And lets not forget that even though the talent pool has been larger in Tigers era, there really haven't been any other elite talents during the last 20 years, save maybe Mickelson. Jack had to compete against Palmer, Player, Trevino, etc., all in their primes.

We're just going to disagree. Nicklaus' major titles is probably the safest record in all of professional sports. As dominant as Woods was, Nicklaus was so much better than this competition.

Woods's first masters win was 18 below par and 12 shots better than his competition. And tied with SPieth for lowest winning score. Fully admit I didn't know SPieth tied him.

Woods's domination was something special and he attracted newer and better golfers. Woods dominated against a much stronger field.

A deeper field. Not so sure I would say stronger. Mickelson is the only real superstar to play in Tiger's era.

Tiger played one good round on a pretty easy course. His swing looks terrible to me but perhaps he's trying to protect his back.
