Thanks to internationial man of mystery Ben Badler, the new online edition of BBA clarifies what the Braves will be dealing with internationally the next two years.
First of all, the penalty the Braves earned by blowing past their signing cap this year remains in effect for the next two Julys -- that is, they can not spend more than $300 K to sign any draft pick. But the Braves can trade their international pool allocation, and it has been predicted that they will deal their International bonus money for Competitive Balance draft picks (thanks, Gondeee).
If the Braves are not awarded a competitive balance pick of their own -- which they might -- the amount of international money they will have to use or trade will be $4.75 million. I could also be more should they be awarded a compensatory pick.
It should be an active market, as teams will be allowed to acquire up to 60 percent of their awarded total the first year.
