Looks like trump is about to direct funds to build that wall. What will critics say now?

    Agreed.

He could use that for better infrastructure, maybe think about building more Nuclear plants so we can help the atmosphere out by not burning fossil fuels for power. It would help the electric car generation.

I agree. I'm totally for more and better border security, but a wall IMO is worthless unless you have a LOT of people patrolling it and I'm talking about a lot more than we have now.

One example of an uber defensive mindset that didn't work AND cost them a fortune to build.

We've moved past the question of if Trump is a habitual liar. The media should focus on why he lies.

    from Atlantic:

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto said in a pre-recorded statement Wednesday that he rejects President Trump’s plan to build a wall along the border between the two countries. “Mexico does not believe in walls,” he said. “I have said it over and over again: Mexico will not pay for any wall.” Peña Nieto is scheduled to travel to Washington next week to meet with Trump. Earlier Wednesday, aides to the Mexican president said Peña Nieto was considering scrapping the trip after Trump signed an executive order which put into motion the construction of a border wall. There are still several questions remaining about his proposed border wall, including the cost of the project. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Mexico would eventually pay for the wall. Peña Nieto, in the video statement, did not mention whether he would still travel to the U.S.

Thought this was amusing. No idea about the accuracy of it, or who this Adam guy is, but accurately portrays the ridiculousness that I feel about the wall....

Mexico cement maker seen winner of Trump’s wall

MEXICO CITY — U.S. President Donald Trump’s plans to build a Mexican border wall are boosting the prospects of builders and material suppliers from Alabama to Frankfurt, but there may be no bigger winner than a giant cement maker based in Mexico.

Cemex SAB would be one of the companies best-positioned to profit from a wall that could cost $15 billion or more as it has operations along both sides of the border. Cemex’s share price jumped as much as 2.6 percent Wednesday and is the best performing among its peers this year, with its stock up 18 percent as of Tuesday, according to Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Sonia Baldeira. The outlook for its U.S. business has also been aided by Trump’s plan to spend as much as $500 billion on roads, bridges, tunnels and airports.

“We are fairly optimistic on the company’s U.S. operations,” Barclays analyst Benjamin Theurer wrote in a note to clients, naming Cemex the top regional pick. “We expect a Trump-boosted pick up in volume.”

The possibility of profit for a south-of-the-border industrial giant, which is the largest cement maker in the Americas, shows the tight interweaving of the U.S. and Mexican economies. The United States is Cemex’s biggest market, representing a fifth of its revenue last quarter, and a windfall from the wall would help complete its comeback from near-bankruptcy after the recession.

I'm in favor of the wall. It will make it significantly easier for border patrol to do their jobs, and the cost will be offset a bit by the fact that it's an infrastructure program. So, the government will get some tax money back from it. And the cost is over stated a bit. Over the course of Trump's presidency (the estimated time it will take to build the wall) it's only going to be about .0009% of the estimated budget over that same time period, which does not take into account tax collected from project.
    thank you weso1!
