I was a Jace fanboy after 2015.. even after 2016, I was OK, he showed us something for about a month and a half. but I am starting to think he just doesn't have the skill to even be a suitable sub.. offensively, he has showed up in like 3 months over the last 2 years and defensively, he can play 2B ok and LF average. He doesn't have the arm for any other position.
I suspect this is our backup CF.

Paco Rodriguez was released?! I'm guessing he's hurt again and that it's bad. He hasn't pitched in a while and that's the only way it could make sense to release him.

I never liked trading for Paco Rodriguez despite my love of the name Paco. LOOGY who doesn't even throw 90 mph and in need of TJ surgery, how does that have the slightest bit of value?

It's not like he was the main piece of that trade. He was an additional piece. One thing I've really liked that Coppy's been able to do is add valuable pieces as sort of throw-ins to deals, like draft picks and guys that aren't key pieces but have value. Paco definitely had value. Plenty of guys like that won't work out, but that's why it's good to add as many as you can.
Apparently Paco didn't show he was driven to contribute. So is Kyle Muller the only remaining return in the Olivera deal?

The deal that keeps on giving

The Oliver deal seriously was one of the worst deals in Braves history lol

Wentz was taken with the pick in that trade, not Muller.

Why do people keep saying this? Wood would have saved us from blowing money on someone like Colon. Peraza is on fire and the hype train is going huge this spring... the Reds love him and traded Phillips to give him a spot to play. Both of these players are valuable assets.
We instead have a league average player getting $18M a year clogging up left field for the next 3 years

That remains to be seen but the money involved is a pretty big deal. We are paying a combined 30 million for Kemp and Colon and I doubt we get much more than 2 WAR combined out of both of them. Wood is making 2.8 million and is likely a 1.5-2 WAR pitcher at worst. Then there is Perza who would certainly have a spot on this team as currently constructed.
There is a lot of talk that money spent doesn't really matter when a team is rebuilding (like has been the argument regarding Markakis) and I agree to a point. But a time is coming soon when we will need that money to make legitimate improvements to make this a contender and that can't happen with players like Kemp taking up so much payroll.
