Baseball America's latest transactions:
Braves have released RHP Andres Avila | RHP David Hale | RHP Navery Moore | RHP Isaac Sanchez | LHP John Danks | LHP Adam Kolarek | 3B Colin Walsh | SS Rich Rodriguez
Sent down: Luke Jackson, Anthony Recker
Interesting note from Heyman:
"Some scouts are calling third baseman Rio Ruiz the “most improved” player they’ve seen this spring."

Thought Danks had already been cut loose?
He doesn't have to be "the answer" at 3B to improve this team. If he can be a 1-2 WAR player (below average) at 3B for the next 2-3 years while making the league minimum, that would be a nice improvement over Adonis (terrible). If Ruiz can keep 3B warm until Maitan is ready to be "the answer", all will be well.
It's OK to have a couple cheap 1-2 WAR filler guys on a team like Jace was and Ruiz and DPete could be. Teams can and do win with a couple cheap filler players all the time.
What a team can't have is 6 positions on the field occupied by below average players, several of which are overpaid. That is the Braves current model, and is why they are going to be pretty bad. The scary part is the FO doesn't appear to understand how bad most of the position players really are.

So many options...how great would that gattis trade be if folly and ruin are starters for the next three years?
Adam Kolarek is another lefty I liked us signing and he looked good in camp, yet they sent him down early and now gone too along with Paco. I don't get dumping these good lefty bullpen options when you can stash them in the minors. We all know EOF could go down to injury again at anytime too.
Soroka, Fried, and Weigel to all start in AA. Soroka is still 19.
