Didn't realize Danks had any chance at a rotation spot.

Yeah we are in trouble if one of our young guys can't win the 5th spot. Danks should be a long reliever or AAA insurance

If Danks shows that he can pitch a little I wouldn't mind him taking the 5th spot in the rotation to start the season. Allow him 2 or 3 starts.

That gives us a longer competition between Folty Blair and Wisler

I wonder if it would be a good think to have Folty at five -- would he regularly get skipped? Is that good? Might it be better to have one of the older guys skipped?

Skipping Folty would be beyond stupid imo. He is a future piece to the rotation and needs every chance to succeed. Colon, Dickey, and Garcia aren't gonna be that here, they are just stop gaps. They need to be skipped if anybody.

Folty has only averaged around 130 innings the last few years.

Kemp putting in some extra work again today after the rest of the team finished. Love what we are hearing right now about him.

Also, DOB said some great things about Max Fried. Kevin McPhalin said the same on another podcast today. He seems to have been turning a lot of heads this spring. Can't wait to see this kid. We all know he was compared to soem great pitchers when he was drafted.

love to hear the Fried comments.

As for Kemp, does this feel like a little bit of show for the fans. I mean really, what is extra work defensively going to accomplish at his level. I understand getting back into the swing of it.. but it is not like he is going to learn something new that makes him good again..

It's just a number to start the season. Once the team is in the swing of things it will be easy to skip a start for anybody if it's needed.

I don't think the extra work is going to suddenly make Kemp a noticeably better defender, but every great athlete continues to work like crazy. Maybe it's a show for the fans, or maybe he's just become more serious about staying in shape after the last couple years, but regardless it's a good sign about his state of mind.

I read more on it. At first glance, I saw taking extra outfield work as in shagging balls. but I saw now it was extra conditioning work.. I retract my statement.

I was gonna say.....the reason professional golfers are so good is because they hit thousands and thousands of golfballs. practicing different shots, chips, putting, etc.....any practice can only help....

He is showing dedication which is all we can ask as fans....

He will be .99 August 1 and then break a thumb and be out the rest of the season.

Or 1.0 and have 3 errors on the last game allowing 8 runs to score or something crazy like that

Can't believe we're going to let the Gnats scoop Angel Pagan up when he's such a perfect fit for us.

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

He could definitely help as a bench bat. Not sure why we haven't shown interest.

If we pass on him for KJ or Frenchy, I'll finally be *issed.
