2014 MLB Braves Top 10 Drafts Picks

Continuing looking at the 2014 draft, where the top picks are now and who can still help the org.

    #32 Braxton Davidson OF
Bit of a make or break year for Davidson who needs to show some progress.

    #66 Garrett Fulenchek RHP
Projectable RHP who disappointed in 2015 and was dealt to the Rays in a deal for slot money. Hasn't thrown particularly well for Tampa since arriving there - 4.62 ERA last year with 27 BBs in 25.1 innings.

    #102 Max Povse RHP
The Braves found something here in Povse who broke out in 2015 and pitched well in 2016 at AA, tall kid who doesn't walk many, he was the big piece in the deal to Seattle that brought back Jackson.

    #133 Chad Sobotka RHP
Big reliever struck out 45 in 38.2 innings last year, has a chance to be a useful bullpen arm.

    #163 Chris Diaz LHP
I'm not sure what happened to Chris Diaz, he showed promise in his first year in Rome, but hasn't throw a pitch for the Braves since 2014. He's been on and off the DL the last two years.

    #193 Keith Curico OF
Has put together a solid minor league career, shows good speed and walks enough, just very little power. Could potentially work his way into a 4th outfielder type role.

    #223 Luke Dykstra 2B
Was traded to STL in the Garcia deal, good contact skills.

    #253 Bradley Roney RHP
Roney has pitched well enough with a big fastball in the mid-90s and a curve that he's put himself into the discussion as a legit bullpen arm. 192 SOs in 138.1 career innings... of course he's also walked 110. Nice pick here by Atlanta.

    #283 Jordan Edgerton 3B
No longer with the club, career .239 hitter.

    #313 Matt Tellor 1B
No longer with the club, career .224 hitter.

    Looking at the top 10;

5 are still with Atlanta (Davidson, Roney, Curcio, Sobotka, and Diaz)
-Davidson is the key, he needs to make improvements at the plate to make this draft class successful.
    - Sobotka and Roney can be bullpen arms if they rein in their command.

    3 were traded
    - Fulencheck and Dykstra didn't have a lot of value, but did help in landing slot money for (Pache/Cruz) and Jaime Garcia.
    - Povse meanwhile was the key part in bringing back Jackson.

    2 were released
    Tellor and Edgarton.
