Oh boy. This is interesting and ruh roh at the same time. I hope he does beef up because his mechanics are very arm reliant instead of legs and that is a recipe for TJ in this day and age.

Interesting. Now I want to see them talk about Fried.

Lot of the stuff they talked about seemed hard to change without severe mechanical changes.

    Not impressed.

I'm pretty sure the org wants their top 5 pick to gain weight and slowly build innings. He's 18 and 63 170. No way he's not going to add good wt in the next 3 yrs

Agreed. Just had his first full offseason now and starting real workout and diet programs.

I don't think those guys were down on Anderson at all. They were just pointing out areas for improvement and what they mean.

If anything I'm encouraged by this video. Anderson should be able to easily add 30 pounds to his frame.

I also don't think using his legs more will require a huge adjustment and I'm sure the Braves will work with him on it.

I'm still not super high on Anderson. I'm thinking Matt Wisler-ish kind of pitcher.

wasn't one of the big selling points on drafting this guy earlier than he should have his mechanics? good grief.

Adding on weight isn't going to change him opening his chest up too early. That's what Kerry Wood did and we all know what happened with him

No MLB pitchers have perfect mechanics.

I think it's a little ironic that guys that make their living selling velocity snake oil to 10 to 15 year old travel ball players are critiquing someone's injury chances.

I my opinion these guys that focus on velocity first are what causes pitcher injuries.

Is there even a consensus on what the perfect mechanics are? I am no expert but I am sure you could nitpick anyone's mechanics. Just because he didn't get injured does not mean his mechanics were perfect. The pitching motion is not natural and the tendons are used like a rubber band, it's going to fray with excessive use. Maddux was probably just a freak of nature. Also not abusing the arm at an early age is a big deal for long term health.
