The pitching is going to be soooo good the next few years. Hopefully the pipeline is continually replenished.

I feel like Weigel is constantly forgotten about by non-Braves people.

He actually can hit 100, according to people that watch minor league games. Not consistently like Cabrera, but he can hit it.

Folty with two pickoffs, Recker with another. Plus, four double plays. What a day.

That's pretty bold. Always hear about his big time fastball, curious how his offseason speed pitches looked. I've heard various reports ranging from fringe to above average.

I think the Braves lead MLB in one thing....GITBSOTL.

Guys in the best shape of their lives!

That plus 700 runs scored will translate to 700 runs scored this year for the Braves, and they will still be a bottom 10 offense.

No matter how this year shakes out, I think it's safe to say a lot of people are high on the Braves future.

The pitching is so incredibly deep. We have enough prospects to pull off a trade for a Quintana type (at some point) and still have quality arms up and down the minors.

This doesn't sound the excitement I have for Maitan, Albies, Peterson, Acuna and our various positional prospects.

Sounds like a little mocking because you may be doubting your win proclamation totals? :)

Quintana is a good pitcher but if I'm the Braves I only give up prospects for a a pitcher like Sale. Quintana is on the next level for me...maybe even two levels below.

I'd rather roll the dice with the arms on the farm than Quintana. Now if you are going to trade for someone like Macahado....

I think we'll either roll the dice on a big-time pitcher or big-time bat within the next year. I'm really interested to see which route we eventually take.

Personally, I bet we go with a pitcher, but I'd love to see us make a legitimate push for Machado... I can't even express how perfect he'd be in our line up. Scratch that, most people's lineup. But still.

I don't think a team with our payroll can afford to get a big time pitcher for 4+ years. I can see us going big for a hitter, but I probably more likely see us giving a 2 year deal with option for third to an expensive pitcher. That is if we're contenders and the selling point for the pitcher is he can spend 1-2 years and help get us a championship.

Very true. I guess I just kind of expect us to contend, but that's far from the truth. At this point, we have no idea if any of these prospect will pan out.

I agree that it'll probably be pitcher, but I sure hope not. Spending years loading up on pitching only to deal it for pitching seems off. We seem to have 1B, SS, 2B and CF locked up for the next 5-6 years. This coming offseason would be a great time to deal for a controllable 3B/corner OF bat, but it's a lot easier for me to say that than to guess who it would be.

We won't be signing any big-time FA pitchers. If we go after one, it will be via trade, but we value our prospects too much to pull off a deal for an ace.

There's a difference between the typical 'I'm in the best shape of my life' stuff we hear in the spring and a guy like Ruiz legitimately dropping 30+ pounds and adding strength. Do I think it will suddenly make him a different player? No. But will it improve his mobility on defense and on the basepaths? Almost certainly.

Kemp I don't care as much about. Ruiz's change in body composition is an intriguing thing to watch.

It also indicates guys that are focused and working hard, and I care more about that in prospects and guys still trying to get there than I do in established major leaguers. So a guy like Newcomb, who has slimmed up some and is in better shape, is a good thing to me. On the opposite end of the spectrum, a guy like Blair, who was already overweight and may have gotten even bigger, is a bad sign.
