    Thread for Games ...

Trying to stay consistent with game threads; this can suffice for Tuesday, but I also wanted a place to address some of the info that Monday's loss to the Tigers provided.

Three-hit game for Garcia. With so much attention to Kemp's waistline, wondering if Adonis had a similar off-season of getting in shape.

Much buzz about Fried going through heart of Tigers' order 1-2-3 in his inning. Viz also TCB.

agreed that Hursh needs to be on the first bus out.

Buzz for Acuna as well. Glad to see Viz start out dealing , I think he could be REAL valuable at the deadline if healthy. The price for power rp last yeah was crazy high

Gotta comment on Danby as well. Inciarte-Swanson-Freeman-Kemp could be a lot fun.

The 5th spot is what I'm interested in. Markakis, Phillips, or Garcia?

Markakis without a doubt. It keeps the alternating lefty/righty thing going.

Agreed. Markakis is a good hitter that works the fifth spot well as it is. I'm actually REALLY excited about the offense this year. We have the lineup depth to be successful.

I mean, this could be the first time (aside from the second half of last year) that we've been a good NL offense since 2013?

I'd pump the brakes a bit. All this assumes everyone starts out as they should, but it never, ever happens that way it seems. I'd say we settle in as league average?

I think we'll be above average -- it's the pitching i'm worried about.

Anything is possible. But right now I would say you have Freeman and Kemp as the for sure hitters to be above average for their position. You hope Ender and Swanson will. Catcher will likely be average and I would say there is no chance we get above average average production from right, 2nd, or 3rd (with who we have now).

I am not that optimistic at Catcher either. Hope I am wrong. I hope Ozzie can be quick to 2B to help us there.

You must not be paying attention... Adonis is hitting .667 with an ops of 1.500 in ST. #beast #mvp

What's the most fried can hope to accomplish this spring? Is he locked into AA no matter what or could a huge spring get him to AAA?

Yeah, I think he's going to start in AA no matter what. But I wouldn't even rule out a brief cup of coffee with Atlanta at some point if he performs.

Fried will be in the minors until september. Need to monitor those innings and world on his change up in a no stakes environment

Yeah, it probably would be until about then before they'd consider calling him up. But if he tears up AA and has a few good starts in AAA and is starting to close in on his innings limit, might as well call him up and give him some relief opportunities.

I think we'll start with Ruiz in AAA, but it makes sense to eventually bring him up and platoon them. Garcia hits lefties very well, so you might end up with a halfway decent 3B pairing that way.
