Article about where each prospect is starting?

Has it been announced yet where each prospect is starting the season?

I saw Soroka is starting a AA, but I would like to know about everyone else with a couple key ones (Fried, Acuna, Riley, AJackson)

Is there a central location for me to look.

Not usually, you'll just find out when they announce rosters.
But most should be pretty straightforward. The only ones I could see as interesting are Acuna (probably A+, could be AA), Fried (probably AA but we'll see), and Davidson (should repeat A+).

Riley and Jackson will almost certainly be A+.

Fried is listed on Miss's roster. It's not complete, but there are some new additions

So Mississippi is going to be Fried, Allard, Soroka, Weigel, Mader.

That looks alot like Rome last year.

Seems our FO thinks very highly of our AA pitching coach

Who does this leave at A+?

    Touki, Gohara, Sanchez, ??

Other than Touki, that seems pretty weak.

Hmmm, not as optimistic about Allard going to AA as I am Soroka. I guess we believe in them that much, but it seems like Allard hasn't had much time in the minors yet and would do well from at least some time in A+.

Gohara is widely considered a superior prospect to Touki, so I wouldn't go that far. I'd have to assume Harrington moves up to clear up the Rome logjam and Withrow or Mader round out the rotation. Perhaps if Harrington starts in Rome we could send Biddle to Florida to start/rehab.

I am with you here. I really like AA for Fried, Weigel & Soroka. But other than that, there is no need to push too aggressively these kids. If they try to do too much too fast, they have the risk of messing with their mechanics too much (AKA Sims at AAA).

But maybe it has nothing to do with mechanics and the FO thinks that Fried, Weigel, Soroka, Allard all have perfect mechanics and they need to learn the mental aspects of pitching.

There was an article about Newcomb that basically said last year was all about teaching him how to pitch a game as oppose to how to fix his mechanics. It was a really good report about how he has transformed from a thrower to a pitcher in a year. Maybe that is what they believe is the last thing for the others.

I guess I'm just confused about why this is necessary. There's no harm in starting them in Florida, especially Allard who only has 60 innings of full season ball. If they dominate there, sure, bump them to Double A midseason if you want. I just don't think the risk here is worth the potential reward.

Front office wants options for the major league rotation in 2018.

Has there ever been a precedence of Coppy promoting pitchers from AA?

I know he promoted Dansby and I think Cabrera, but I think you are right. He feels like AA is the proving ground and he wants to know who can start in ATL opening day 2018.

He said there was an open competition for the rotation this year (Folty, Wisler, Blair). I know, not really...

Maybe he is really having an open competition for next year (Newcomb, Sims, Fried, Weigel, Allard, Wisler, Blair) for 2-3 spots.

I'm not sure banking on a pair of 20-year-olds going into the 2018 season is the best idea.

The ideal is a couple of the guys starting 2017 in AAA moving into the major league rotation next year. I think the Soroka and Allard promotions hint at some unease about that happening and desire to accelerate other options.

Why not push Allard? He's been dominant. The main issue with him has been health, not stuff. Let him get challenged. Let him fail a bit and see how he does.

The frogs have Touki, Go hard and Sanchez. Touki is Touki. Go hard is top 100 on a lot of lists. Sanchez is prospect fatigue but he's still less than 20 right? Sanchez could be a useful pitcher, he's just been around since he was 16 in MilB.

Allard wasn't dominant his first go round in Rome. Maybe that had more to do with being rusty, but he got demoted to Danville pretty quickly last year.
