April 21st:
1898: Against the Giants, Bill Dugglby becomes the first and one of just two players in ML history to hit a grand slam in his first at bat. It would not be done again until August 31, 2005, when it's done by the Marlins Jeremy Hermida.
1900: As a minor league team, the White Sox play their first game, losing 5-4 to Milwaukee. The team would join the AL next season.
1948: After a year long suspension, Dodgers manager Leo Durocher returns in a 9-5 loss to the Giants.
1961: The Twins play their first home game in Minnesota, losing 5-3 to the new version of the Washington Senators.
1966: The Phillies trade Fergie Jenkins, Adolfo Phillips, and John Herrstein to the Cubs for Larry Jackson and Bob Buhl.
1972: The Rangers defeat the Angels 7-3 in their first Texas home game.
1989: After helping to arrange a syndicate to purchase the Rangers, future president George W. Bush becomes the team's managing general partner.
1994: In the Indians 10-6 win over the Twins, Eddie Murray homers from both sides of the plate for the 11th time, breaking Mickey Mantle's ML record.
2012: The White Sox Phillip Humber pitches a perfect game in a 4-0 win over the Mariners.
2014: The Pirates Ike Davis becomes the first player in ML history to hit a grand slam for two different teams in April. Before he was traded, he did so for the Mets against the Reds.
