I'm interested to see what Tyler Pike has this year; he struck out 134 in 125 innings last year and in true Braves fashion also walked 68 ahahaha.

I'm really hoping Newcomb takes a step forward this year. He's a small step away from being a solid major league starter and not a huge step away from being an ace.

Yup - the Simmons trade was a huge gamble by the FO and Newcomb is obviously their big poker chip in that one.

Wilson is going in the early game for Rome. He is so under the radar because he was picked after our big 3 pitchers last year.. but He could be another surprise this year.

Why is Cumberland at DH? Is Herbert a better catching prospect?

They'll probably switch off like Morales and Herbert did last year in Rome. Plus it's a double header, so Cumberland probably catches game two.

I'm slipping... had no idea it was a DH

I am listening. And he has been better than his line.

But also, yes, Herbert is a better catching prospect.

Two scoreless for Weigel with five Ks. Newcomb striking out a lot, but he's getting hit hard.

In Florida, Acuna RBI single followed by Riley three-run homer.

Weigel has come a long way in a hurry.

Seems like a nice kid, too. I made it to spring training for the first time ever last year. I took the kids down to the practice fields to get autographs...my son, who has never met a stranger, completely filled a ball up with sigs, then scored another ball from a player. My super-shy eldest daughter couldn't bring herself to approach the players. Weigel saw her hovering around me and walked over and sighed her book--the only autograph she got. 45 seconds of his day, but a really nice gesture.

Good to see Newcomb overpowering guys even when he's getting hit.

Weigel is a beast. He could see Atlanta before the end of the season.

People will be rough on Newcomb. I am too,but he's really good. Pitch efficiency is not synonymous with him and I suspect it will still be ebb and flow...but I've seen him 3 times personally and he's incredible WHEN the ball crosses the plate. He was hit,but he was trying to correct his inefficient pitches leading to contact. I like him a lot.

Alex Jackson with his first homer. Acuna with a triple. Would be huge if Jackson could regain some of his sparkle. That's extremely rare power
