I fully agree. I thought you had said you wanted Lewis, though.

Anyway, I think the four guys with the highest upside in this draft are Greene, Gore, Beck, and Adell. So I want one of those 4.

I would be happy with Lewis. I would be happy with Wright, Greene, Lewis, Gore, Beck or Adell. My preference changes daily based on the latest blurb I read.

I would not be happy with McKay, Bukauskas (sp?), Pratto, or any other low upside player signed to save money.

    We can agree on that.

Bukauskas I might be able to talk myself into because I don't care as much about height on a pitcher, but yes, we agree.

I can't disagree with you at all here

The thing that makes me interested in Lewis is the fact that he could be a Francisco Lindor type... except faster... but he could also bust hard and be a utility guy.

I doubt we go the route of Adell, but man... his upside sure is tantalizing

I think he has the highest upside in the draft, and I think he's probably my preference if I had to choose someone. I agree that I doubt we go that route, we'll likely take Beck over him if we go HS bat, and I'm fine with that. But yes, if he hits, you're talking elite of the elite.

I agree with most of you that Gore, Beck, Wright, and Lewis are my preferences and at least 2 of them will probably be available. With the way our pitching has performed in the minors this year I'd prefer a hitter.

If Brent Rooker falls to Round 3, I hope we're all over him. I might even take a shot in Round 2. I don't care that much where he plays defensively, the bat is so legit.

I completely agree with your argument here.

Another so-so start for McKay with velocity dipping again near the end of it.

The good news is he hit a grand slam. I'm hoping he has a strong two weeks. The board sets up pretty well for us if someone takes him in the top four.

MLB Pipeline's updated mock goes Wright-Greene-Gore-McKay. They have us passing on the HS bats (Lewis, Beck, Adell) taking Adam Haseley at 5: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/232496...icid=151437456

    5. Braves: Adam Haseley, OF, Virginia
Atlanta's scouting department would be thrilled to get Wright if McKay goes No. 1 and Tampa Bay looks elsewhere. In this scenario, the Braves' choice figures to come down to Haseley or Lewis. They're also the first club that might pop Texas high school right-hander Shane Baz, and it's also possible that they'd look for a discount deal to shift extra money to later picks.

Interesting take. I think some of the college bats will have late helium as their seasons wind down like Senzel did last year.

I honestly kind of hope he falls. I don't really want Lewis and I seriously doubt we would take McKay, so it would set up nicely for us to fall into Beck or Adell if the top 4 is Wright-Greene-Gore-Lewis.

Haseley is intriguing, but I like the HS bats more.

I really like Haseley and would be pretty pleased if we grabbed him. Only college player I like better is Wright.

I hope we don't do a cheap deal this year with our 5th pick. Just take BPA bc there are a lot of teams that have more money to spend than us. If one of Lewis, Gore, Wright is there and we pass somebody needs a nut punch.

    Haseley .399/.498/.683 208 AB 14 HR 41/20 (BB/K) 10/14 SB.

Somewhat successful pitcher at college level with FB perhaps touching 90. Definite draft as hitter. I think the weight of what I've read suggests his defense would probably play a little better in a corner, but could possibly handle center. I think that makes him a little bit of a tweener/possibl fourth OF. If his power does not continue moving up it seems a little light.

Would not be my preference, but it seems like a bet on his power. I like the apparent hit tool.

Still, Maybe I'm trying to force fit big potential into a bad draft, but I'd rather take the tools of an Adell and Beck and roll the dice on what they become as far as OF goes.
