He's at 59 pitches, so probably just 1 more inning for him, but he now has 16 Ks in 8.2 IP. I'll take it. The 5 BBs are a bit of an issue, but he is 18, after all.
If I had to guess, I would say it's a sign of fatigue, both mentally and physically. Keeping everything together for 80-100 pitches is one of the things these kids have to learn.

wow.. nice catch Pache.. blooper that he read right off the bat and hauled butt to catch it. I can see Anderson is getting gassed. all his FB are tailing now... not exploding like they were in the first 4 innings.

Pache is bigger now. He has a frame that could add more muscle..

Anderson's line will end up looking very similar to his 1st start. Now 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 8 K. Very, very good. They may send him back out for the 6th, but I doubt he finishes it.

yeah.. I am wondering if they let him go... I think he has a few more hitters in him. Cruz just killed this inning by pulling a Mallex. He over slid the 3b bag on a steal that resulted in an out. Still got 2 in to help pad the lead for Anderson's win.

Really good to see Yepez hitting 2B consistently.

I love what the Rome Braves are doing today.. they scheduled this as a day game so they could take the entire staff (players too) to the home opener of the big club.

Can we just all agree that the braves know how to scout better than the people on this board?

So far, very happy the Braves selected Ian Anderson instead of Jason Groome. :)

BTW, why is Jason Groome's name Jay Groome all of a sudden?

Anderson out after only 73 pitches. Wonder how far he'll be stretched this season

All the kids in Rome are on an 80 pitch count limit if I remember correctly.

I was one that was not too thrilled about the Anderson pick. I will openly admit that a scout that has been doing this his whole life...might know a little more than I 😂. At 18 years old...what more could you ask from even a #1 pick. This makes our scouts look either very ahead of everyone else or very lucky (so far).
