the "weigel is legit" bandwagon has plenty of room. who wants on?

Bryse Wilson appears to be hard to hit, .171 batting average against over his minor league career so far, very impressive.
Kid seems very smart too. He had a 4.5 GPA in high school.

Oh, I think most believe he's legit. He does get overlooked at times because he was a college arm drafted in the 7th round and then didn't look great in rookie ball, so it will take a guy like that time to have him register for people, but his last year+ has been completely legit, especially now that he's in a better level for his age.
I had to look up Weigel's history, but he bounced around quite a bit. The University of Houston (where he last played college ball and his locale when drafted by the Braves) was his third college stop and he had major control problems at the first two colleges where he played. Big fastball with control issues. Just the type of guy to take a risk on. Most of those guys flame out, but every now and then, the pro coaching gets a player where he needs to be and that is what we are probably seeing with Weigel. The quality of his secondary stuff (which I know nothing about) will likely determine where he ends up in the future. If it clicks, he's a starter. If it doesn't, he can still be a top-shelf bullpen guy.

here's a recent scouting report
http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/a...-weigel-021317
he could most definitely end up as a closer at some point, but i dunno. nobody has hit this guy in a year and a half. that's not changing in AA. stay tuned.

I think he has 2-3 years as a starter prospect / MLB starter before Atlanta switches him to a RP. He has given them only positive int he starter role. In fact, of all of the high end starter options, he has been the one that they have promoted the fastest. If he continues as he has through his 1st 5 AA games, the first person promoted to AAA when a slot becomes open will most likely be Weigel.
I see either Weigel or Fried being Sept call-ups.

They mention Scherzer as a comparison... I see some pre TJ Matt Harvey in him also
That's great news! A team can't have too many Scherzer/Harvey hybrids in the system. If Weigel is Scherzer/Harvey then I suppose that makes Allard a Glavine/Price hybrid. I shudder to think of what that makes Soroka...a Maddux/Pedro hybrid?
My god, the Braves system really IS loaded!! Derp!!
