I think it is too easy with all this talent to get really excited about 1 game or really down about 1 game. We all know that is not the way development (or baseball in whole) works, but with so much talent we focus much more.

What I want to see is 2 guys doing well at each level at all times. Today is a good day to watch for that.

When I look at the minor levels, the Braves seem to have 2 guys doing well at each level. AAA (Newcomb & Sims), AA - (Allard, Weigel & Withrow), A+(Gohara & Harrington), A (Anderson, Wilson, & Wentz)

    That is still pretty amazing.

The rough rule with pitching attrition is you lose one prospect per level. Which means 2 good prospects in AAA will translate to one major league starter, 3 in AA will translate to 2 in AAA and 1 in the majors, 4 in high A to 3 in AA....and so forth.

That seems too general to be very true, but even if it is...he also didn't include guys like Fried and Touki who may be struggling to varying degrees but are still good prospects.

Thing about trying to figure out what a pitcher is what in the minors is we do not know what restrictions on certain pitches they may have, or if they are being told to concentrate on a certain pitch, etc... Just like Tehran was once told not to throw his slider, or something like that. Just trust the process and the cream WILL rise. And we have a whole lot of cream down in the system.

No need to sticky any of these minor-league threads. They're sticky enough already.

I thought part of the strategy with the aggressive promotions was to challenge guys and let them fail. You need Soroka to get hit some to make adjustments and get better. If he doesn't fix it then we start to worry.

Did anybody notice that Mallex Smith is batting leadoff for Durham and is hitting .429?

I consider Touki and Fried to be good prospects. Not enough sample to say anything has changed based on this year's performance.
