For all the pissing & moaning Republicans have done over ACA, they've gone almost a decade without proposing a single plan to IMPROVE care.

How do you define "improve care". Sometimes we need less government to improve things. Well actually most times.

    Nonsense.

Define government. Or is it just a term thrown around like "the left"

Government fixes the street. Sets and enforces the bars of legality. As voted on by our reprezentatives. Your beef seems to be more with our representation than with the abstract term of government.

Yor representatives can be changed. Provided you know how to vote.
Thst isn't an ideological how either

Improved care had absolutely nothnothing to do with tax cuts.
But does have to do with care. Or, access to care

One good thong coming out of Trump?
We as a nation are deciding just what we are and who we want to be.
Trump as a mirror ain't putting up a good face.
Going forward what kind of government do we want.
This theoretical conservative model is proving itself not all that

Tell me more about the repeal of ACA.
Talk about the disporportionate collection of wealth

I think it is what Randians call "makers and takers"

Which is what an idealistic "not red state or blue state " Obama found in 2009.
Yes, I earnestly believe that with mountains of facts and quotes that back that up.
    Should you care to look.

This health care fight is a power squabbel and nothing more.
7 years and this is what yhey have ?

I'd be perfectly fine with a repeal and then going home

I don't, but I also genuinely don't understand what a conservative solution to the issue would be, beyond the obvious snarky answer.

I hear mushmouth stuff about freedom, tax credits, and HSAs, but none of that comes close to squaring the circle. The former is just a talking point and the latter two are drops in an awfully big bucket.

I know what I favor: a robust plan that will cover birth and early childhood automatically, then a "Medicare-for-all" component that adults opt into. I know what the political downsides are and I think the costs and benefits are obvious and easily understood. As good as movement conservatives have been at packaging and selling simple, attractive ideas to the public (lower taxes, less government interference, local control), this is an area where, to me, the silence is deafening.

I seem to remember that you're in favor of some kind of SP solution, too, but I wonder...if we stipulate that nothing the Congressional Rs have proposed is an authentically conservative alternative, what WOULD an authentically conservative alternative look like?

It seems to me that Republicans are conceding leadership on this issue to Democrats, and while I'm happy to offer the caveat that Democrats are highly likely to **** it up, I'm not even sure what R's even want to do except cut taxes for a certain subset.

Well if repeal is not about naked unbridled power than what is it about?
After 7 years of shouting from the roof tops they have no policy alternative

And are on record of wanting/needing a win.
To my point they have talked more about winning than caring

ACA is in fact the Heritage Foundation plan of 1993 -- so it isn't about and has absolutely nothing to do with care or the mechanisms of care

Not a single Republican senator voted for an amendment to the health bill that would have protected people with disabilities. Shameful.

Sure, your premiums will skyrocket, but Mike Pence won't ever have to worry about accidentally paying respects to a transgender soldier.

I love that you're so concerned about premium sky rocketing.

Not a single one of these Republican Senators would do something important like buy a car with this much haste and inattention to detail.

Oh, to be clear I care about premiums.

    What I don't care about?
is whinety college republicans 35 cent philosophy - that thinks it exempts them from paying their share of dues into the social contract

Fair share? Those that make money pay the not in taxes? What is the fair share by the that don't work or make the necrssary decisions to make a better life for themselves?

Why does the social contract dictate I must pay for others poor decisions?
