    I think Cruz is an example of a promotion that was way too aggressive that has backfired. He did well in the GCL, but even then, the K/BB wasn't pretty at all. Then Danville was a disaster for him. Add in the defensive questions, and starting him in Rome looks like a bad idea.

    It would've been nice for him to do well and go to Florida next season to gain some separation from the Maitan/Severino group, but that doesn't look like it'll be an option. This year has just been about as ugly as it gets for him.

    I think Maitan might start next year in High A. Cruz stay in Rome. Alejandro Salazar move up to AA.

    Would Cruz be better off in Danville this year? He might end up there anyhow. I don't think getting half a season of reps in Rome hurts, even if the results were not pretty.

    What do you guys expect out of Dustin Peterson this season?

    Here's his ops all 4 years of MiLB...
    '13 = .681
    '14 = .634
    '15 = .665
    '16 = .774

    What changed last year? Did he start to put it together or do you think he'll be back to mid-.600s again this season?

    I'd expect the injury to depress power his first year back.

    I'm guessing Maitan will start at Rome next year. We like to give everybody time in Rome. It's beyond that where they may be really aggressive.

    It's probably time to promote Acuna again.

We're loading up on pitchers because of the risk involved, not in spite of it.

    I think the Mets after a few lucky hits...went with pitching. I don't feel they chose that path, more likely "It chose them". They never at ANY time had half the depth we do now, and we still have international signings from last year that are yet to begin and will undoubtly add more pitching (hopefully not a first rounder) this year and high picks next year also.
