0.6 bWAR
Update: Braves have 113 games left. Assuming Kemp plays in 105 of those and maintains his current level of defense he would need to end the season with an ~850 OPS to surpass 1 bWAR. Kemp currently has a 952 OPS and would need to OPS roughly 815 the rest of the way to end the year at 850.
Sweet, we are hoping the 2nd highest paid player on the team gets to 1 WAR...and proves to be below average.
I'm soooooo glad The Genius doubled down on the HO mistake to pay Kemp even more money!!
I'm still not convinced his play in the OF costs the Braves as many runs as the numbers indicate. Remember that even just playing LF takes points away from your WAR.
Huh? It will be very close to 1 WAR at the end of the year. It wouldn't have been much of a bet if it wasn't close.
The thing I find funny is all the posi-Braves trying to pretend Kemp is good, and here we are...cheering for him to reach 1 WAR. It's beyond sad that this is what Braves fans have to cheer for because The Genius doesn't know how to evaluate MLB talent.
I think most people are aware of this. This is how we can compare a shortstop to a LF. If you are just concerned with his WAR rankings for LF then that doesn't matter as all LF's get that same penalty.
As far as how many runs he is worse than an average fielder. What would you put that number at so far?
What exactly am I cheering for? I want the Braves to suck? I want to tune in every day after work and see them down 6-0 in the 2nd inning every night?
The Braves suck, in part because Kemp sucks. Proving the derptards on this site wrong is just a very small silver lining to being a a fan of a miserable team.
I'm pretty sure if we are down 6-0 in the second...that is crappy starting pitching. Now...you "can" blame Coppy for that for sure. Not seeing how it's Kemp's fault. He although might be the reason it's 6-1 instead of 6-0. I seen him make more good plays than bad this year, and he looks a good bit better than last year.
Our starting pitching has been our problem more than anything.
Infield defense has been a problem more than outfield actually.
Offense has been fine.
BP has righted the ship for the most part.
So...unless Kemp is a starting pitcher...he is not the problem.
