Jackson and Riley have struggled recently. 5-37 combined over their last five games.

They aren't protecting each other obviously.

Very, very encouraging stuff from Touki. Guys, he is on the verge of a breakout. If that happens, he shoots up the rankings as fast as anybody ever has.

Yeah, im leaning that way as well. Guys that have an absolute hammer pitch usually have decent MLB careers.

I've managed to keep my expectations for Touki tamped down, because he seemed like such a long shot, but damn...the upside is there and it's hard not to be excited about the strides he's taken with K/BB.

Small sample size with an aggressive promotion. Give him a few games to adjust and he'll probably be fine.

Do we have much of an explanation for Carlos Franco's power explosion? Seems out of nowhere. He's pretty close to matching his career high HR/season.

Looks like he has somewhat drastically seen his Ks increase in AA - 27% - not sure if that's better pitching finding holes or if he is just trying to hit the ball harder. BABIP has gone up with the K%, maybe that's part of the explanation.

At 25 he's been around a long time and probably isn't going to make it, but its an interesting season start.

I really wish I could have watched that game. Something happened after the homer that got the manager ejected. I almost wonder if the Ump was being inconsistent and it was frustrating Weigel. Not giving him an out.. he still needed to make pitch... but I am curious what happened if anyone knows.

never mind. read that he was arguing that the homer was really a homer. I am such a homer..

Very curious season. Walks down. K-rate roughly calculated is right where it was last season around 27%. Power way up. Like you, I doubt that some super secret light bulb went on for him and he's suddenly a prospect again, but it will be fun to watch. Was fairly highly regarded when he first signed. From what I have read and heard, very impressive physically.

At this point in a lost season... just throw him at first base for fun in the majors.

Seeing Gwinnett really doesn't have a first baseman, I could easily see a promotion to that locale if he continues to hit.

is Franco on the 40 man roster. if not, I see no reason to 'just call him up to see' kind of move.

He is not. Six-year minor league free agent that could have signed elsewhere, but he has stuck around.

Don't worry, I was told by a very reliable source that Jackson will be a Top 50 prospect by the mid-season lists.
