Had a really nice stretch between Reno and Phoenix late last year. Seemed to choke after being called up and named closer, for a week, by the Diamondbacks in August.
Harmless gamble on a guy who could be a useful piece out of the bullpen.
Definitely a good move nonetheless!
Just another one of the typical moves this organization makes. Has zero impact and just making a move to say they made a move. It's harmless and pointless at the same time. In before someone tries to fluff this guy up although its probably too late since he's now in the Braves pipeline.
This guy is supposed to have top notch stuff. Big fastball and good slider. Odds are he never becomes anything useful but with the unpredictable nature of relievers it's never a bad idea to grab an arm like this when you have room.
If nothing else, he has a legit chance to be better than Chaz Roe.

Not "out of left field." EOF goes onto DL with a sore back, Luke Jackson recalled from Gwinnett, leaving a hole in the bullpen.
I read somewhere his fastball is in the high 90's. He's worth a look.
I get what niners is saying because I often have the same feeling (and I did with Wren as well). I worry that there isn't a blueprint for the future or at least a blueprint that Coppolella will remain wedded to, but I don't have a problem here. We probably sent Arizona the cash we got in the Adams deal. Only thing that I would have preferred here is that we would have traded Collmenter for him.
As for Chaz Roe, I think Chazz Palminteri could probably out-pitch him these days.
This is fine.
