6/10 Game 1 vs Mets...Sean Newcomb Day

I am ready to move the old folks out and let the young guys learn on the job. Awful, season-wrecking kind of day for the "offense."

Just watched Newcombs start. Definitely limited to no use of the changeup. Fastball was a bit straight but easy velocity. NY guys in the booth were talking about how its difficult for a batter to gauge velocity when the delivery is so free and easy.

He got away with a bunch of curves that were left over the plate and he will need to tighten that up once the book is out on him. All in all you have to give him an A for his first major league start. Kid definitely has the ceiling of an ACE.

Does Newcomb have a slider to go with his curveball? You know that Kershaw guy in LA gets by ok even though he never throws a change up.

Unfortunately I missed most of both games. But you have to be happy with both starters. The three run homer off wisler was a really good pitch. Newk I was worried about but he pitched great. Reading this thread. Sounded like game7 being game 7. Hated that our offense **** the bed yesterday.
