Yes, you are missing the actual facts...

    2016 FA: 91.8
    2017 FA: 91.2

And that is with the slight boost all pitchers are getting from the new measurement system this year (old numbers may now account for this though...I'm not sure).

That delta was worse earlier in the year, but he has steadily increased his velo over the year...and pitched better as a result:

He's still a bargain next year if he's in the 1 WAR area. I think it's not a lot to think he'll at least be a 1 WAR guy. He's 0.4 now and has had rough times.

He makes 8 million next year. Then 11. Then you have a 1 million buy out or a 12 million salary. He's cheap even if he sucks. He costs less than Jamie Garcia.
The real question is how does that impact the Braves. Is having a 1 WAR guy taking up that salary and rotation spot going to help the Braves in 2018? 2019? Or will trading him not have a better impact on the future? That really depends on what the Braves can get for him. I wouldn't trade Julio for most prospects past the 50 mark even though that's likely what's he's worth. Lewis would be someone I would trade him for if he is available.

Any team that buys low on Teheran right now will have made an excellent acquisition.

Seems the velo thing is an easy argument even when it's not correct. And his contract is far from prohibitive even if he sucks throughout it. People like Ubaldo Jimenez (13m), J.A Happ (13m), Wade Miley (8.9) just to name a few. Julio didn't suck in 13,14 or 16 and has pitched 185 innings + every year. He been mediocre in two years 15 and 17 of his full time mlb service time.

He may not bring back top prospects but he shouldn't be peddled around like he has never been a decent pitcher. Worse pitchers are getting big money.

Sherman says he's hearing more chatter about the Braves getting involved with Gray.

Totally on board with this if it doesn't take any of Acuna/Albies/Maitan.

I'd only get involved if it meant he was taking Julio's rotation spot and we were dealing him elsewhere.

I asked in live chat a while ago. Something about the new statcast info being in one place and not the other...but the splits tab is the correct data.

I literally just told you why it contradicts itself, and which values are correct.

    Yet you STILL argue lol.

How about some ****ing relievers if they are thinking about possible contention. I understand Gray is a future asset as well, but I'd imagine the FO wants to be competing for a playoff spot no later than next season, given the way things are going. That won't happen without an actual closer.

IMO they should. If the market dries up on him then you pounce. If the As would be considering anything from the Mariners then we should be able to get him low.

I wouldn't give up Albies, Acuna, Maitan, Allard, Soroka or Wright. I wouldn't want to move Gohara but I might. I worry he won't sign long term b/c he has a father son relationship with the Brewers pitching coach. I'd trade Allard or Soroka if he'd sign a team friendly extension with lots of team options (he wont).

But the As might not do better than Anderson + some stuff. IF they are dumb enough to force a trade now then maybe we can win with that.
