What did Oakland get for SHark?

Not saying it's the same scenario but market and availability does affect the return

Dont think we'll get an insane offer but teams who need a SP could overpay.

What if we packaged Garcia, Viz and BP to a contender for a high end prospect/s?
As several folks have said in this thread, packaging 2-3 of these guys together could net a decent return. That's the route I hope they take. The trick will be finding a match, which won't be easy.

Yankees look like a solid match. They could use Garcia, Adams, and Viz/JJ.

Yanks have some internal depth at SP, not sure they'd want Garcia

So what if we swapped Julio + someone for Gerrit Cole. Gives the Pirates a pitcher for a few years at a good price and gives us a pitcher with great stuff. We could easily extend him and he has two more years of control.

    I would not do that.

I think Beane's blood alcohol level was about 0.2 when he made that deal. Can't project future deals based on one person's psychotic episode.

I think the Yankees are an obvious target if you can find a match

From the reported Clint Frazier mid step in ST (asking to wear a retired number and for it to be taken out of retirement just for him- an obvious move of immaturity and dumb-assery) and the emergence of Judge and the long time interest in Harper, maybe he could be pulled away by a package around Adams, Garcia and Viz

And now that Torres is facing TJ may be he could be the center of a deal if Frazier is a non starter

There is no way the Yankees would deal Frazier or Torres for that package.

My recollection is that story was later denied. Don't know the details for sure, but that is what I remember.

Bowman saying there is a chance Freeman goes to 3b when he returns from DL. I completely don't believe it though. I'm guessing negotiation tactics for trades?

If this nonsense is true then give Bowman an effing Pulitzer. This, folks, is #fakenews.

I would die from laughter if that happened. Freeman playing 3rd, lol.

No bowman has reason to believe that freeman has reason to switch position and that the think tank has reason to hold off on trading Adams. Which gives snit reason to believe we could have a lineup of inciarte Phillips freeman kemp adams Flowers/Suzuki Markakis Swanson

Derpi-Barves out in force today lol! He should have just ended the chat with "Braves fans are morons" haha.

    Super braves fan
2:51 Can you see Chris Archer making his way to the Braves this year
    Jeffrey Todd
    2:51 Nope

    Albies
2:51 Any chance I get moved for a Archer/Cole type starter?
    Jeffrey Todd
    2:51 Nope

    Matt Adams
2:53 Sir why do you hate me and my teammate so much? Are you not aware that I did hit another home run yesterday? My name might not be Aaron Judge I might be not be 6'7 but for crying out loud I have been playing great during the last 36 games with the Braves.
    Jeffrey Todd
2:53 And my fantasy team appreciates your contributions.
2:54 But I still don't think you're anything more than a usable second-division regular at first (who is less valuable on a team that doesn't have a quality righty bench bat to spell you). And I dont' see your new teammate suddenly playing a quality third base when nobody gave him even a chance to do so when he was drafted.

    Ben M
3:12 I struggle to understand the negative view of the Braves offense. They are in the top half of baseball in most offensive stats and have been trending upwards since May. They have a few guys who have been hitting very well for most of the year (Kemp, Inciarte, Flowers, kinda Markakis) and Freddie is supposed to return in the next month. I may be biased being a fan, but I have seen both you and Steve constantly say they are not very good (Jason is a bit more bullish on them).
    Jeffrey Todd
3:13 I didn't say the offense is terrible. Just that keeping Adams around with Freeman at third isn't going to magically make the team a whole lot better. It may be the best option they have, but it has clear drawbacks. Just like sacrificing D to keep Kemp's bat the lineup, etc.

    Ben M
3:15 I do respect your view on it and maybe you have the benefit of outside view on the Braves offense I was just wondering
    Jeffrey Todd
3:16 Thanks. It is a fair question. I just wanted to add on this: we are looking at the full view of Adams, for instance. Or Adonis Garcia, say, when there was chatter about how he'd be a good option this year. Just trying to be honest from a neutral lens.

    Mario
3:18 Could Jaime Garcia and a bullpen piece bring back a top 100 prospect?
    Jeffrey Todd
3:18 Not if it's my prospect.

    Freddie Freeman
3:25 I was the best hitter in baseball before I got hurt. My bat will play anywhere
    Jeffrey Todd
3:25 Of course. That's not remotely the point.

I'm curious as to which offensive stats Ben M is referring to. Braves are 20th in team WRC+. 17th in runs per game.

Ben M is an idiot and saw the Braves rank 5th in BA.

Like I said, the Drool Squad was out in full force today.

Garcia not doing himself (or the Braves) any favors the last two starts.
