Swanson vs Albies according to Clay Davenport

    Swanson: http://www.claydavenport.com/ht/SWANSON19940211A.shtml
    Albies: http://www.claydavenport.com/ht/ALBIES19970107A.shtml

This is the best place I have found for defensive stats on MiLB players.

It is good to see it looks like the Braves made the correct decision when leaving Swanson at SS and moving Albies to 2B.

It is also interesting to see Swanson projected as a ~3 win player while he projects Albies as closer to a 4 win guy.

The same site also has Acuna as a below average CFer, Robles as an above average CFer, and Eloy about as good in RF as Acuna.

He also projects Acuna and Eloy to be about the same WAR if promoted this instant (0-1), while Robles is much better (3-4, likely due to plus defense in CF).

In my extremely small sample of watching acuna at Mississippi, he took bad angles at cutting balls off headed to the gap. He didn't really have any challenging balls in the air the few games I saw.

Haven't seen Albies at SS. I think Swanson is gonna be good there though. I think he'll cut out the dumb miscues for the most part by the end of this season

Those numbers suggest Swanson is easily the superior defender.

Swanson is +2 in range and +2 in double plays for DRS. -1 in good fielding plays (basically errors). So yeah if he cuts down on that which I believe he can then we are then we could be looking at a ~+8 defender at short. That would make him a top 10 defender at short in most seasons(ranked 7th right now). Swanson clearly has the ability to be a plus defender.

Seen them both for some time. Mostly when Ozzie was in Rome. I still maintain that he was as good from the eye ball test, but I do have corrected lenses. I still like Ozzie as the better bat and he should have no problem with 2B at all. I think the correct decision was made and it doesn't matter much now anyway. I think we'll be blessed to see them both for some time be plus defenders at 2B and SS.
