Minor really has picked a bad time to not throw his best ball. Hopefully the light clicks in the postseason.

Simmons looks hurt, we need to take him out. We cannot afford to lose him, he should've been given a day off tonight anyway.

I don't know why people think a bench guy shouldn't be expected to hit because he doesn't play regularly (Terdo). If he can't hit with sporadic AB's and isn't going to start what good is he?

Huh? Any player has to get an occasional start to stay sharp. The longer a bench player goes without starting the less effective they tend to be. This is true across the board, it isn't just Joey T.

Minor's recent issues have mainly had to do with the first inning.

Plus the Brewers hit lefties well, so I'd say he's doing good so far. He gave up a solo homer but pitch count not bad and only one run through 4 innings.

In his last start he gave up 3 to the Gnats in the first, then shut them out the next five.

Halladay's fastball didn't top 83 mph before he was taken out early tonight. Bad news for him. The Machado injury for the O's was bad too. What a blow to the O's to go along with their playoff hopes going down the drain.

He's the new Huddy, that's what it is. Seriously, Huddy historically has had first inning issues at times. But if you don't get him in the first you usually don't get him at all. Hopefully that's all it is for Minor too.

No, you construct a bench with players who are useful. Either they can hit off the bench, or are primarily defensive specialists. If he can't hit off the bench, he's worthless. Plenty of guys can hit off the bench, that's why you sign them to be back ups. Redd Johnson, Hinske, guys like that.

Chip likes the NL batting leader bunting with 2 on & nobody out in the 4th.

Nah, even Reed Johnson and Hinske needed an occasional start to stay sharp. If you want to debate how often they need one, that's another discussion. But to try to argue they don't need an occasional start is nonsense.

As I said, CJ like Simmons really need a day off. I had hoped to see them get an off day tonight. Oh well.

Need to do a better job of coming through in these situations.

    Pretty freaking pitiful right there.

The offense may be a little hung over from yesterday too. Personally, I really didn't expect us to be sharp tonight after the big day and celebration yesterday. This is also why'd I'd rested more regulars than usual that need it. Then just hope Minor pitches a gem and bench comes through.

A Bobby Cox Sunday only on Monday.

Really bad plate discipline from Gattis, CJ, and Simmons.
