This plan will fail - and I have a feeling it was intentionally meant too. Interesting tweet by POTUS here

An industry that isn't government subsidized? In general - the technology/electronics industry doesn't have government subsidies. And we have better quality, for less money.
I mean a health care system, in any country.

Rand Paul just got re-elected. He has no incentive to do any favors for Donald Trump.

Also, putting political capital into a major policy proposal that is intended to fail is weapons-grade stupid. Why would they do that?

Rand voted to confirm Jeff Sessions so who knows what he will do.

Also want to point out I have been saying Republicans would never repeal Obamacare since way back when Romney was the nominee. **** like this never goes away, it just gets "reformed" over and over.

Probably due to public pressure to produce something... This will buy them time

So how does the proposed health care bill affect the opioid epidemic, since it ditches minimum coverage standards which include addiction treatment? Trump has, to his credit, at least paid lip service to this issue, but that doesn't seem to be bearing out in policy.

How many people do you know that have been killed by terrorists?

    How many by cancer?

So where should we spend $ to protect American lives?

Conflating health insurance with health care is like conflating homeowners insurance with housing. Can we stop doing this?

True, and the folks who are pushing this bill keep reminding us of it . . . and telling us nothing about how their plan will actually promote affordable care. Only thing I've heard is some very vague rainbow-and-unicorn stuff about HSAs.

I still don't understand how they managed to come up with a bill that is hated so universally.

I will say after observing this party in-fighting in the GOP over healthcare the last few weeks, it makes an observer objectively appreciate Nancy Pelosi's ability to keep her party in line and deliver for Obama.

She got everyone in line including the Progressives, Blue Dogs, etc. My only regret is the blue dogs didn't embrace Obama's popularity during the mid-terms and fought harder to improve on the bill and instead tried to distance themselves and that's why they lost. Whether or not you agree with the ACA or like/dislike Pelosi, her leadership to rally the troops and corral the party looks a lot better than what we're seeing. Ryan has no control over his party right now in the House. McConnell really isn't doing anything either other than deflecting shade to the House and trying to avoid Trump's line of fire.

It doesn't look like Trump's dealclinching skills along with Ryan and McConnell will be able to deliver anytime soon. The narrative that the GOP had 8 years to come up with a plan to repeal and replace is only growing by the day. If they fail to capitalize on this with two majorities (they can use reconciliation to pass with simple majorities) their obstructionism the last 8 years is only going to be amplified heading into 2018 mid-terms. Can't blame the Dems on this. The GOP ran on getting rid of ACA, then some of them are backtracking because now they admit there were elements that were actually good that they dont' want to remove.

I have a feeling if we don't get healthcare done by next year, "Who knew healthcare would be so complicated" is going to be the winning line for Dems.

well, this all sprang upon them. they didn't have anytime in the 6 years they tried to repeal it while hating the black man for anything he was for to figure out a good plan that wasn't the republican plan that was already passed by the black man.

Ok, so Republicans only hate Obama because he is black. They only hate Hillary because she is a woman. Now explain to me the hatred for Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, John Kerry, and Al Gore. Republicans hate anyone with a D next to their name. Saying they only hate Obama because he is black is the same as saying Democrats only hate Trump because he is white.

half black man. And Republicans plan has always been to use Obamacare as a campaign topic, repealing it was the last thing they would ever want. They never expected to have both the presidency and congress.

Looks like some of Obamacare's 'essential benefits' (like birth control) are potentially on the chopping block in a last ditch effort to placate the Freedom Caucus.
