I think it's reasonable to look at historical analogs. Watergate, Iran-Contra, Whitewater...hell, even Benghazi, which was tiny in scope compared to the others. Most of them clicked years. Even some investigations of cabinet officials which centered on a single individual or a single incident have run longer than the Mueller investigation currently has.

So far there are indictments or plea agreements with 5 individuals, plus another 13 foreign nationals. You're spitting in the wind if you don't think there are going to be a lot more.

What's your positive case for suggesting they should just roll it up now?

I guess when they stop indicting people, when cases get prosecuted, and facts are produced and argued in court.

At the very least, I want to know who did the hacks and if they coordinated with Americans. I want to know why the Trump campaign appeared to be tacitly cooperating with people trailing information about apparent criminal acts. I think it's quite reasonable to want some answers to those particular questions, and to be willing to wait for them.

Trump is totally screwed on so many fronts: emoluments, corruption, obstruction and selling influence to the Russians. His only hope is holding public opinion afloat with the economy or a suddenly "totally necessary" war.

It's not surprising that no lawyer with a sliver of good sense will go anywhere near him.

I think the latter, but I suspect that most of the important pieces will be in place within the year. That's fairly speedy, as these things go.

And I'd argue that it's not really a matter of government being slow and inefficient. You could--purely hypothetically--farm the investigation out to a private entity, but complex legal maneuvering involving hundreds of parties and millions of documents are not going to be greased lightning, regardless. The law provides some boundaries, and unless you suggest we scrap that, too, some patience is in order.

It's the old industrial maxim...everybody wants fast, cheap, and effective, but you realistically are only going to get two of the above. In this case, considering that big-baller private sector lawyers are working for government paychecks, I'm guessing it'll be cheap (in relative terms) and effective, but not particularly fast.

the word I use is collaborators...i think by now it is pretty clear there were members of the campaign who wittingly collaborated with the Russians...now we wait to see how far up it went and what the legal and political consequences will be

Mueller was also empowered by Rosenstein to investigate Manafartov's payments from Ukrainian politicians, a cornerstone of the Trump adviser's decades-long lobbying career that has resulted in several financial criminal charges so far.

None of this is news. But I do see claims here and elsewhere by Trumpophiles that Mueller so far has only indicted Manafartov on crimes that pre-date the campaign. It is pretty likely imo that Mueller will eventually bring up charges against Manafartov related to his activities during the campaign.
