Going over to Canada - and coming back - is tough these days. When I was in Boston I used to head up to Montreal every couple of months and the checkpoints are surprisingly elaborate (cameras, scanning equipment, dogs).

I can't imagine crossing into Czechia is anywhere near as difficult. But then you have to wonder where he got the car.

Going to Canada is weird...i went last summer and was worried since neither of my sons had valid passport...one had an expired passport and one a driver's license...the Canadian border agent waved us through without saying a word

Haha, wow, that's crazy. I had one agent threaten to detain a friend for not having her passport signed.

On another occasion, I drove across the border into Canada out of Vermont and went back a few hours later to pick up someone. They made me pull into a secondary area and tore my car apart.

I've also been scolded for laughing at a border patrol agent when he asked my Mom if there was anyone hiding in the trunk.

for what it's worth the latest scuttlebutt is Cohen flew by private jet to Germany in early September then travelled by train or bus to Prague

I wonder if the big redacted section in today's court pleading detailing why the SDNY determined he was not likely to respond forthrightly to a subpoena shed any light on that.

If the McClatchy report is accurate, it seriously undermines the Trump pushback against the collusion narrative in general, and the Steele Dossier in particular.

The most vehement arguments against the specific factual accuracy (i.e. people, dates, and places) of the dossier centered around Cohen's denial of ever even visiting Prague. There's plenty of stuff that's unproven and probably unprovable, but such a blatant series of lies about a potentially verifiable event should be instructive.

If he did, indeed, travel to Prague (on a timeline that tracks perfectly with the original allegation of post-Manafort damage control) it begs the question of why he would so stridently deny it. There's no innocent explanation for a clandestine trip of that nature followed by a series of explicit denials to the media and to Congress.

I guess the level of surprise about this depends on your attitude towards the wealth of reporting early on that one of the jumping-off points for this whole thing was European intelligence agencies reporting meetings (plural) between DJT associates and Russian intel.
