yeah, I understand. I am 50/50 on Newk staying or going back down. my biggest hope is getting Wisler back up and seeing what we might have. I don't think he has shown us everything he is capable of. I would like to see 10 or so starts to see if he is even in play next year.
Coppy
I don't either. That's why I would have preferred we wait until Newcomb brought down his walk rate in AAA before calling him up. Then give him 15 starts or so. Bartolo Colon's problems necessitated an earlier tryout. I think his AAA performance justified a short tryout. Not a 15 start tryout. I think Sims' performance in AAA does justify a longer tryout. Sims has 3 walks and 34 strikeouts in his last four games. Think about that. And his performance the whole season has shown a significant improvement in the walk rate.
"I am a victim, I will tell you. I am a victim."
"I am your retribution."
From both a long-term perspective and from the perspective of trying to get an effective major league starter right now, it makes a lot more sense to try Sims rather than Medlen next. To me it is a no brainer. But I think you may be right. The FO might think Medlen is the right choice. God knows why.

Is pumping Medlen another way for the FO to pander to the casual fan? The casual fan knows Kris Medlen, but do they exactly know who Lucas Sims is or could be?

Maybe the mods should make a section just for commenting about me? Super can post his internet stalking results. You and mistake7 can chuckle back and forth about me living in my parents basement with crimedog247. Whoever always chimes in about me not knowing the touch of a woman can pop in every once in a while. Garmel can make random spot appearances.
You guys could have a grand old time in that section haha. Losers.
For anyone curious as to why Newcomb got shelled last night:

The lowest right chart shows where the 4 changes he threw were located. He threw all 4 to RHed hitters, and none of them were anywhere close.
The Cubs stacked the lineup with RHed hitters vs a LHer with only 2 pitches and below average command. They then proceeded to own him.
